Wargames workshop are looking to hold a 1500 point Warhammer tournament on the 23rd August.
I'm hoping to attend, especially as I've been saying I'd like to see them do a Fantasy event for ages.
Haven't got all the details to hand, but it's normally around £5 to enter and prizes that varying depending on how many people turn up.

I've been nagging him too. I'll be going if I'm free that day. Have to check with the higher (chaos) power first though.

Yep - looks like fun - I'm definitely going down (unlike Mark, I don't have a higher power to answer to) ;D ;D ;D

It's not the first one of these he's run, I think it might be the third now.
Generally their tournaments are pretty good fun, the 40K ones are very competative, Warhammer has been less so, but the attendance for those has been much less up to now.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go, it'll give me a chance to get back into the swing of things with my Skaven army prior to me kicking off my league games.

Yes a very good day. They should have started a bit sharpish, though, rather than mooching around the shop for so long! Who did win anyhow? I was so busy making sure I had all my bits, as we were ushered out the door, that I didn't hear. Obviously I was Spoon, wooden spoon dave spoon again! Dave

Well obviously the beasts won as they are the true power (just nobody knows it yet)
Of course my money would be on the High Elves

I was so busy making sure I had all my bits, as we were ushered out the door, that I didn't hear. Obviously I was Spoon, wooden spoon dave spoon again! Dave I'm not sure they announced it, but I think it was me. I played the Beasts army in the 3rd game and we were the only two undefeated players. He surrendered in turn 4. Trying to work out what happened. This is my best guess. Dave and Mike can probably help confirm the details. Round 1 Wood Elves (Me) vs Orcs & Goblins (Dave) = Wood Elves win by +450 or so High Elves (Mike) vs Bretonnians (David?) = Bretonnians won Beasts (Mark) vs Ogres (Tim) = Beasts won Round 2 Wood Elves (Me) vs Ogres (Tim) = Wood Elves win by +2100 or so High Elves (Mike) vs Orcs & Goblins (Dave) = ? Beasts (Mark) vs Bretonnians (David) = Beats won by > 1000 Round 3 Wood Elves (Me) vs Beasts (Mark) = Wood Elves win by < 1500 High Elves (Mike) vs Ogres (Tim) = Ogres win by lots Bretonnians (David) vs Orcs & Goblins (Dave) = Bretonnians win Some interesting armies. Mike was using his tournament list, which did well when his magic worked, but which got spanked by the Ogres when it didn't. The Ogres had no Magic at all. Bruiser, Hunter, Iron Guts, 50 Gnoblars, lots of Leadbelchers. The Beasts was 10PD (3 x Tzeneech marked Wargors), 25 Bestigor, 30+ Beastherd, plus 8+ Minators!! Dave had a Goblin horde: 150+ (too many to kill ;D) Not sure about the others.

I'm not entirely sure how everybody else done, but that sounds about right Mark
However, I can confirm the following results for my High Elves
Round 1: HE v Bretonnians - Brets won - marginal victory as I recall Round 2: HE v Goblins - marginal victory to my High Elves - should have been better but my bolt throwers took an inordinately long time to dispose of Daves giant Round 3: HE v Orgres - got completely trounced by the orgres - and three miscasts didn't help either

Ouch 3 Wargors with the Mark of Tzeentch - thats gonna be expensive! 8 Minotaur is gonna scare the crap out of most people though. Well Done Mark There might have been even more of them. It could have been 9 or even 10. The 10PD scared the crap out of me. It was a good game, where I got incredibly lucky in one series of combats - where a Dryad unit went on an incredible run. The board we played on was littered with terrain - although only one wood. There were lots of patches of difficult ground, plus a big building in the middle. Turn 1 - I advance my Dryads on the flanks, and fired at the Bestigors - killing 5 or so. He advanced his entire army - Bestigors and General in Chariot round one side of the building - the Beastherd, Chariot and Minators down the other. His magic burned two scrolls (Green Fire / Blue Fire). Turn 2 - I charged a unit of Dryads into the Beastherd - they were going to die, but I wanted to try and kill the Wargor. The Bestigor unit lost 10 to shooting and the Hail of Doom arrow, but passed their panic test. In the combat I forgot to target the Wargor - lost by 2, but held. In his turn I remembered to target the Wargor, and wounded him once - again lost by 2 and held. His magic burned my final scroll. Turn 3 - Bestigors charged by Treeman and Wildriders - lose by 8 and are destroyed. Archers target the Minators and do 7 wounds !!. Dryads finish off the Wargor, beat the Beastherd by 1 - they fail their break test and are run down. The Dryads overrun out of charge reach of the Minators. His turn 3 the General tries to avoid the Treeman and Wild Riders. The other chariot lines up on the 3 Dryads left over from the Beastherd combat - and the Minators move into charge range of my archers. Turn 4 - Unable to avoid the chariot the Dryads move in front of some difficult terrain - hoping it will overrun into it and be destroyed. The Glade Guard - cause 8 wounds to the Mino's who break and run 10 inches. His Generals chariot takes 3 wounds from shooting. In his turn the Chariot charges the Dryads and the Minos rally. The chariot kills 1 dryad with impact hits, but takes two wounds in return. Combat is drawn At this point he surrendered. The Treeman, Wildriders and a unit of Dryads were all about to charge his General, who couldn't flee. And his remaining Mino's weren't going to survive 2 turns of BS4 Str 4 shooting.

Well done Mark Going by the three Scrolls it's clear you took took two mages what other character did you take? Alter, Wardancer... Sorry I bailed in the end, spent the Saturday with the better half before she flew off to Spain. I'm also feeling a little Fantasy overload atm and really didn't feel like doing a tournament on Saturday as well as the one I went to on Monday.
