Now the on the ball amongst you will no doubt note that there is a big anniversary in a couple of years....and I think it would be spiffing if we marked it with a re fight..in 28mmm. Stop whinging you have a few years to paint the minis!...and there are stacks of plastics, and even Prussians now! I rekon if we got in with other clubs, we could do this. Who remembers the big Waterloo game in Milton Keynes all those years ago...Barry, no U.S. Veterans this time! Carl, would this not be the ideal Black powder game for Kelmarsh, if it is on that year. Even if not we could do the show circuit! and itis a great way to get the club on one project, and in plenty of time. Dave

Warren already has this in mind as he is collecting 28mm prussians and is doing 'part' of the battle rather than all of it.

Interesting.....fancy a collaberation? what "part" are you thinking of?

Dave, Sounds like a good idea, I would like an excuse to paint a few units of the plastics. I was quiet impressed with the Perry French cavalry I did for Mark.

Talking to Carl, yeaterday at Phoenix club. He says they were thinking of re creating a part of the battle. This I think is where collaberation comes in. If we could get other clubs like MKWS, Northampton etc, we could concentrate on parts of the battle...like, OK you lot do the assault on Hougemont, we will do the French Cavalry attack on the Squares, that club will do the Imperial Guard attack,and so on. Division of labour! and then each club will have a part of the battle that they could display independantly of the others, if they wanted to. This could perhapse be a good GCN local area project.

we could certainly do it as a GCN project between local clubs, but cant do this sort of 'join up' at Kelmarsh i'm afraid.
we could however do it at a particular club or at each participating clubs venue so we get 3 or 4 different battles over a period of a few months maybe.

I have been talking to MKWS. As I mentioned, ages ago we did a big Waterloo game in Middleton hall. So Maybe we could do it for Campaign 2015? there is enough lead time I think, to sort diaries out!

Hello? Just what we were talking about the other night Dave - got my mind set on doing Plancenoit with Julie as we have 50% of the necessary troops thus far. 10 boxes of plastic Warlords Prussian Landwehr, all the metal blisters x2 form Warlords to make commands, at trail and casualties. Also grabbed quite a few Calpe models - now if you want pure class these are the models. We received them a few months back and I got down to taking the flashing off them the other day- bah humbug - not one single bit of flashing on them - Huzzah! The Landwehr cavalry, Landwehr infantry in various poses and the generals / officers were great. Detail on these are superb! Now eyeing up the Perry's New Prussian infantry and will definately get the conversion back packs to change a unit into fusiliers. The there are the multituides of French ... I'll stop there!
David are you still enthusiatic about it as I think we could do quite well here? We would need to chat about it some more as I'm raring for it. Would love this at Kelmarsh 2015 but wouldn't mind chipping in at Campaign 2015 or any other all dayer.

Dave, A good choice of Battle (unless you want to see Red Coats), Steve and I have tried this a couple of times, I think we put in on at one of the Arenas using 15 mm. Its a real infantry slog in the town, so we would need some nice terrain models particularly a good church model.

Julie (the wife) is currently eyeing up some actual photographs of the church - however it is a rebuild practically so she is now looking at the paintings and plates in the Hofschroer books. She wants to rebuild the whole village in 28mm - which should be quite vast. Bitten off more than we can chew? - nah - this is a piece of cake!

i think for Kelmarsh 2015 this is pretty much a 'shoe-in' as long as it is still going, and of course, a wargaming marquee is still wanted by EH.
if anyone wants some i have some new, still in the box naps for sale.
let me know if interested

Dave have you seen the relatively cheap 25/28 mm unit packs from Lanacashire Games? I got x6 Chasseurs a cheval pack and x6 Prussian Uhlans pack at Reading for £22. All metal. Still haven't got going with the Naps painting as yet with too many other projects (Normans, Jason and the argonauts etc...).

I have had some models from Lancashire Games before. They are not really of a good quality IMHO,and so I prefer to use Perry wherever possable, or Victorix, and HaT are also good, for plastic. I am currently building some Perry Brunswickers, amongst other things, and have 2 of the 3 Line units finished. At the moment have 8 French line and Lights done, a unit of Dragoons, Chasseur a Cheval, and a battery of 6 Lbdrs with a 5'5 howitzer, all with limbers. I have enough kits to do at least another 4 line units, maybe more, and the Perry Hussars, plus some Redoubt minis Line lancers I am building up now. Had thought to maybe do Quatre Bras first, so woll need some Dutch Belgians to go with the Brunswickers. Check my blog dicelikedave.blogspot.com to look at my collection, together with Dereks, who also has his British coming along nicely. We are planning to do a nap game on one of the first All Day meets in the new year, Feb or march perhapse, maybe you could come along with what you have and we can have an epic game?

I haven't even got one unit done as yet with all the other painting I have to do - its quite soul destroying seeing the amount of Naps that have to be done and I haven't lifted a finger on them due to other commitments (work and other painting). I've really got to stop buying. However I will check out your blog and go a bit green with envy. I may take you up on the offer of coming down for a game but it will be sans models, however with a lot of events and shows going on it will be difficult to find the time. We shall see.

Not to worry, may be we can give you a Brigade to command, perhapse the Brunswick Corps, I hope to finish them with the Third line batallion, the Leib Batallion, and maybe a couple of guns. later the Uhlans and Hussars just must be added...well you have to! I have the Duke himself, with staff, so a reasonable force to command I think As I said 1st and 2nd line are finished, and the Avant Guard jagers are undercoated. Cheers, Dave
