First of all I'd like to say thank you to all of the participants who have showed such a great interest in getting involved. I have still 2 days to go before I can afford to order the troops, but in the meantime I've put my future Bad Men together, 5 hardcases including the fearsome leader Joshua Hex, to a total cost of exactly £200, no more, no less... Itches in my gunhand to try them out. The Swede. (Should be $200 of course Joeoe . But what the Hex, where I come from we have Krona (Crown...).

£200 is far to much! Although I'm not sure what the exchange rate was in the Wild West...you might be hard pressed to find a Bureau de Change. My Lawmen posse comes in at $199 and includes a crack squadron of largely unarmed Upstanding Citizens. I'd be interested to see what fighters and weapons people have gone for actually. Here's mine if anyone cares (or wants to gain super-secret advanced information): Sheriff: Heavy Pistol, Hand Weapon Deputy: Shotgun, Sixgun, Hand Weapon Deputy: Sixgun, Hand Weapon Vigilante: Rifle Vigilante: Rifle Upstanding Citizen: Hand Weapon Upstanding Citizen: Sixgun, Hand Weapon Upstanding Citizen: Hand Weapon Upstanding Citizen: Saturday Night Special, Hand Weapon I'm sure they'll win all their games...

Thanks to a suggestion from Dave3 I have now laminated the Counters and Templates. If anyone plans on testing the game Monday 4/8 I'd be more than happy to lend you the markers, as I'm playing Runequest instead.

Does everyone have minis?do we want some painting tips that day too! The West certainly is buzzing!! Dave I'd say our best bet is to just run a few 1v1 scenarios so we can all get familiar with it. It's probably not worth linking scenarios together until we start a campaign - which I figure we'll do fairly soon after that Sunday. We could try a bigger multi-posse thing as well. I've just ordered my minis so they should hopefully me here by then. I think I've read up on what I'm supposed to do to paint - it's just the doing it that will be difficult, but any tips would be very welcome. I'm quite interested in working out a campaign: story, victory conditions - all that sort of thing. I figured that Ove, being the imaginative and interested soul that he is, might also be interested so if he and anyone else wants to sort something out then we can work on it together. If not then I'm quite happy to figure something out on my own.

I have now ordered my minis etc. and I think I prefer Joeoe's idea to duke it out in a couple of 1 v 1 games, as it seems like we have a few Greenhorns ;D at wargaming here, one suggestion might be to have the "old hands" to run through the system at a test run first, the Greenhorns looking on and taking notes.
Another idea might be to have someone used to the wargames facing off at some of the less experienced players, in my opinion it's the best option, I prefer to learn by "trail-and-error"-principal. Or multi-posse which probably would give more people a chance to play and learn at the same time. The bottom line in my opinion is though that the ones with the rules and the know-how decides what rules we are playing by.
I doff my hat in Joeoe's direction and would be much obliged to sort out some sort of campaign at a later time, but I need to get the system and the whole rigamarole figured out first. In passing I can mention that over in "the old country" I was the GM for a swedish RPG named Western, and ran a campaign for about 4 years, with the same characters!
Painting tips would be welcome at any time.
How many people are interested to give it a go? What kind of posses are we having? Do we need a sign up sheet for this activity?
The Swede.

1v1 probably the best option so as to learn the rules. I too prefer practical use of the rules to learn, over dry reading. I think that we should play by ear, and signing up not really necessary. I find when something is over formalised it loses something! OK 2nd Sunday we could have some simple scenarios to each learn the rules, objectives always give meaning and focus to games,as just turn up and shoot everything games soon lose the appeal. use of some club terrain would be good, on maybe 4ft x4ft playing area. I haven't made my posse yet, but with the mini's I have, there are lots of possable options. Dave

The scenarios specify the gaming area size, although I don't think any are bigger than 4ftx4ft (IIRC). What sort of scenery is available, do you know? That way we can decide which scenarios are viable, or if we have the possibility of doing everything then we can use the tables they have for randomly choosing them. Some sort of sign up might be in order once campaign time roles around - but we should think about that after we've got the learning out of the way.

I'm hoping the mini's I've ordered will turn up next week, so hopefully will have had time to get my posse painted. If not I'll either have to borrow some, or use some proxies.

Seems like we've reached almost an agreement, 1v1 games to take us through the rules and other stuff. Hopefully I've gotten my stuff and had time to at least basepaint the minis.
Has everybody got at least an idea of what posse they'd like to play? Would be great if not everyone (except me) turned up with a Lawman posse...
I've ordered the Outlaw posse, Tombstone 4 and a rider on horse from Black Scorpion. And if I got it ready I might be able to "spot" someone minis that are short on his posse, as I only need 5.

I probably won't join in with the game, but I'll dig out my Western figures and bring them along so that people can borrow them if they need to.

The 10th, so the all day Sunday.
Ove, I'm going to be playing at Outlaw posse. Eight outlaws, all on foot.

The club has some card western buildings in the store, and there may be other bits and bobs we could use, not all scenarios need be from the book, or in a town! Dave

Dave That's true, although the book ones do look pretty good - they all have special rules and shizzle like that. But whatever we come up with should be fine. I'm playing Lawmen btw, looks like I'm outnumbered so far
