Played my first league match against Dave last night. He had me worried for a while, with some very strong dice rolls in the first couple of turns before his normal dice returned...
Dave graciously conceeded at the end of turn 4, so the end results was 2185 to 0.

Freebie Points! Next you'll be suggesting friendly play and honest dice. Where will this madness end?!?!?!?!

I'm sorry I don't know what came over me. I'm off to doctor my dice and kick a small puppy.

I think the poor under strenght Empire armies should get a head start; alternatively maybe Dave could have the points value of the unpainted figures?

What? Did the VC turned up with unpainted figures??? I'm sure that's against competition rules!!!

I don't think the Empire are such a bad army, but they don't have an easy answer for the Wraiths/Banshee that's for sure.
Oddly enough you'd expect the Stank to be one of the things that could help deal with the Wraiths - let them charge the Stank then flank them with a ranked unit and try to get rid of them with combat res. You should start off with +6CR (ranks, banner, flank, outnumber).
I'm amazed that Dave has managed to loose the thing twice to 3 Wraiths and a Banshee. I know his dice can be awful at times, but the odds are that the Stank should survive.
Here are the numbers:
9 S5 hits, 3 Wounds, 1 failed save 1 S3 hits, 1/6 wounds, 1/36 failed save
So it should take them 5 full turns (10 combat rounds) to kill the Stank.

It was a good fun game, and we played well. As John says, my dice were uncharacteristicly good to start, giving me false hope, and maybe over optemistic too! But I am now thinking of a new theme tune (for those who listen to Scott Mills on the Radio!) Spoons, wooden spoon dave spoon ! ;D Dave

Personally I don't think for a friendly tournament it should make any odds whether models are painted or not. Maybe award extra points at the end for painted armies or some such or have best painted army as voted for by the participants. I for one struggle to paint anything at the moment thanks to work.

Unpainted figures are not allowed under the competion rules. It does not say however in the rules what the penalty is. So I will make it quite clear here - please let anyone else you talk to know, mark can you copy in to tis message in to otehr appropriate folders? They are draconian for a reason.
Any game played where both competitors use any unpainted figures will be void and the game will need to be replayed when appropriate figures are fielded.
If one player has a majority of his army unpainted (by any criteria e.g. points, number of figures, number of units etc.) the game will be void.
If one player has a few figures unpainted and the other competitor agrees to play the result will only stand if the player with unpainted figures has lost 4 nil or 5 nil, any other result will be void and the game will have to be played.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Forgot to say that even though John played Dave with unpainted figures and they played on a non competition terrain layout as they had agreed it between them before I laid down any penalties the result will stand.
