Should we promote the Bedford Gladiators to our local community by putting on a demo game at the Central Library in Bedford?
Matt Franklin has kindly investigated as he has a pal at the library who has said that we could put something on there. As its a Library they would be more interested if we were able to do something that they could tie into books in their collection. In many ways it is a shame that WW1 isnt more active at the club.
Anyway, is there an interest from you the membership to perhaps putting on a game there?
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank you
Steven

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me
I agree that WW1 would be nice (given that this year the 100th anniversary), and shouldn't be too difficult to organise
Alternately, almost anything historical would probably be appropriate

Might it be worth trying to find out what the demographic of library users is & tailoring the demo to suit?
If it's middle aged men then WW1 or WW2, Saga etc. If it's teenagers to mid 20s a "Game of Thrones" type fantasy battle or Sci Fi might lure more in, most Libraries have a decent sized Sci-Fi/Fantasy section & it'd fit in with other media like the cinema. Star Wars never goes out of date, Full Thrust could simulate battles from "Enders Game" - show them there are alternatives to the dreaded GW...
If it's mainly young mums & toddlers then it may not be worth it...

well i think it should be something like Star Wars as it would be simple to set up / take down etc.
I like the idea of fantasy - Mark - your castle please!!

All good points Damon
The whole point would be to advertise that we are here – and on that score almost anything will work
In addition, I think it would be helpful to demonstrate some of the range of the hobby – specifically, as you suggested, that there is more to what we do than overpriced bits of plastic
As for demographics – the library seems to be one of the few places that attracts almost everyone, from mms & toddlers to OAPs and all spectrums in between
Might be a good idea to to discuss this with the library staff sometime and see what they think might be appropriate
Thoughts people?
