That's great Chris
The choice of a ranseur as the primary weapon is unusual – it will be interesting to see how that works in practice
Background is good – you might want to expand the some of the backstory a bit (how did you kill that dire wolf? and what about that troll?) What you have here is enough for my purposes, but it would be nice detail for you to roleplay in game (campfire tales, boasting rights, etc)
Like the fact that she was found wandering along as a child – nice bit of mystery there (this is just the sort of thing I can use to write in a little sub-plot)

Good stuff Mike I'll add some more detail to the background later On the Ranseur, I too haven't seen one used (apart from by myself for one pfs game). I was choosing between the guisarme (with trip) and the ranseur (with disarm). Given that I'm not planning on taking combat expertise and the rest of its tree, I thought the plus 2 on a disarm weapon made this more likely to have an effect than one with trip (which has no numeric bonus). I think given the way CMD ramps up in pathfinder that I'd struggle to make trips actually work. Arguably trip is better than disarm but I thought on balance I'd be different Anyone else seen Ranseurs used in a game?

That's fine Chris
Wasn't a criticism, just an observation – entirely up to you haw you want to run your character
And I can see how disarm might be useful
I'm not entirely sure how it will work in practice, but it should be interesting

No worries Mike - I hadn't taken it as a criticism - I do think it's a interesting corner of pathfinder's ruleset though. I think in general it won't be worth using disarm much as all you are normally doing is using an attack to potentially pick up an attack of opportunity later. However I think it will be useful if: A strong enemy relying on a weapon is surrounded meaning there's the potential for multiple free attacks of opportunity when/if he/she picks up their weapon Or Another party member or members needs to get into position to flank etc around the target of the disarm and so the disarm will mean the target is temporarily not threatening adjacent squares. Or The target is capable of full attacking with said weapon. Making them drop it will normally force them to spend a move action to draw a new weapon/pick up the old one meaning they can't full attack on their turn. It will be interesting to see if I'm right

Yes, I think you're right
Doesn't help much if you're one-on-one, but does offer tactical options if you have allies

Here is what I've come up with so far for my character. The Pyrokinesticist Kirino.
Name: Aramaki, Kirino Age: 17 Height: 4'10" Weight: 6st Hair: Black Eyes: Jade Green Description: A petite lively girl, who rarely stays still for long. She is dressed in an interesting blend of Andoran and Minkai attire. Colourful western style trousers and blouse worn under bright red studded leather armour, which takes the form of a high collared long jacket with knee high studded boots. Then a decorative black sleeveless haori, which has a leaping fox embroidered on the back, over the top of the armour, along with a flame pattened red and yellow silk scarf, wrapped loosely around her neck and the collar of the jacket, the ends of which trail behind her. Apart from a dagger in a horizontal sheath at the base of her back, she appears unarmed.
Personality: Fiesty, Short Tempered, Mischevious, Reckless, Caring, Loyal
Background: Kirino's Grandparents, and her parents, who were sucessful, if not really wealthy, merchants left Minkai around 30 years ago as a result of dispute with a local lord. The lord claimed they had cheated him and attempted to seize all of their goods and property in restitution. Kirino's familty taking as much of their property as possible fled first their home, and then when pursued by the lord, took ship and fled Minkai. After quite a long period of wandering they ended up in Andoran, and eventually settled down in Peaksdell, where having found they enjoyed the travelling around have built up a livelyhood mostly as travelling merchants.
Kirino was born in Peaksdell, and grew up travelling around the region with her parents as travelling merchants selling goods from village to village that they couldn't otherwise get.
Two or three years ago, she started manifesting pyrokinetic powers. Initially fires would flicker more or sometimes suddenly burn higher and brighter around her, and her dreams increasingly featured flames. After this had been going on for some months, she got into a particulary bad argument with her younger sister, and when she lost her temper set her parents wagon on fire. Fortunately not much damage was done before the flames were put out.
Following this her parents took her to see a wizard wondering if she had some magical talent, that she needed to learn to control. For a small fee the wizard agreed to take her on as an apprentice for a short while, while he tried to teach her some of the basics of magic, enough to give her some control at least. This didn't go very well. Kirino wasn't happy at being left behind, and quickly got frustrated as while she found she could make things burn, nothing the wizard tried to teach her would work for her. She found the studying boring, pointless, and a waste of her time. The only plus that Kirino could see to her time with the wizard was that the after she gave up on trying to learn spells, she had time to practice controlling the flames that she could soemtimes summon.
After a month, her parents returned and the by now fed up Kirino left with them, after the wizard explained that while she clearly had some magical power to produce and control flames, she had no apptitude for casting spells.
After that Kirino has spent a lot of time learning to control the flames, and mostly with the encouragement of her uncle Toshiro learning how to fight using them. Once she'd learned some control, Toshiro took her with him on his own work as a forester for a while.
Since then she's spent some kind acting as a guard for several mercheant caravans, and more recently a stint as a discrete bodyguard for a prosperous mercheants daughter.
Family: Grandfather - Aramaki, Ishin. Relatively elderly (early 60's), white haired, whispy beard, talkative. Having gotten a bit old for roaming around trading with villages and so on, Ishin now runs an Inn in Peaksdell called the Travelling Blossom (Inn sign is of a cloud of pink cherry blossom being carried along by a swirling wind).
Father - Aramaki, Kyosuke. Mid 40's. Black haired. Friendly, charming, persuasive, practical. Kysokue now runs the family business. Gets rarer manufactured goods, and small luxuries shipped in from outside the district and then sells them either to the shops in town, or around the other villages etc. Owns a house/small warehouse in Peaksdell. But isn't often there, spends a lot of his time travelling around the region with a wagon selling to the various villages. He's focused on the family business, and while he supports Kirino is a little annoyed at her for not wanting to help run and expand it.
Mother - Aramaki, Hina - Mid 40's. Reserved, graceful, patient. Hina, spends most of her time travelling around alongside her husband Kyosuke.
Uncle - Aramaki, Toshiro - Early 30's. Lively, easily bored. Toshiro particularly enjoyed the time the family spent travelling around after leaving Minkai, and was much more interested in exploring new places than travelling around trading. A good hunter, and bowman, after spending some time just wandering around the region and acting as a guide he now works as a forester for the local authorities. He encouraged Kirino to do her own thing, when her pyrokinetic powers developed, rather than just follow the family trade.
Brother - Aramaki, Bato. Mid 20's. Calm, focused, firm. Bato is Kirino's oldest brother, and works for the family business. While his father spends a lot of time travelling around the region selling goods, Bato has basically taken over the supply end of the business and does most of the work dealing with their business contacts outside the region that supply them with goods. As such he's not around that much now.
Brother - Aramaki, Iruka. Early 20's. Carefree, generous. Iruka also works for the family business. Until relatively recently he was still accompanying his father on his business trips, but in the last couple of years has started making his own rounds.
Sister - Aramaki, Ryoko. Early teens. Excitable. Ryoko is Kirino's little sister. She's young enough that she still travels around with her father and mother. Close enough to Kirino in age that the two of them were fairly competative with each other, leading to many brief but intense fights.
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Str 13 (11) - 3 Dex 14 (16) - 5 Con 16 - 10 Int 12 - 2 Wis 10 - 0 Cha 12 (14) - 2
HP: 30 AC: 17 (+3 Dex, +4 Armour)
Fort: +7 Ref: +7 Will: +4
Languages: Common, Sylvan, Tian. Traits: Ease of Faith - +1 Will Saves. Friend in Every Town: You have no problem making friends and learning information from them wherever you go. You gain a +1 trait bonus on all Knowledge (local) checks and Diplomacy checks. One of these skills (your choice) is always a class skill for you.
Feats: Weapon Focus (Blast), Point Blank Shot

That's great Stephen – exactly the sort of background material I'm looking for
Nice details on her family members – more than enough for npc status, and a nice starting point if we ever need to flesh them out a bit

Hi Maurice – nothing wrong with a shameless rip-off
One minor point:
Universities do exist in Andoran, but you should think in terms of medieval England rather modern day America.
However, they are very expensive (something in the range of several hundred times the average man's annual income) so unless your family is extremely rich (which it isn't) or you have a really generous patron (which you don't) higher education is well beyond your reach.
This means that your brother cannot be at university – he simply could not afford it You need to rethink that a little – maybe an apprenticeship with a local craftsman or something of that nature

I have just looked at my core rule book and it seems to indicate that my spells are charisma based. That's correct. I believe it was wisdom in 3.5 but changed to charisma in Pathfinder.
