Here is a thought. Last club was fairly rammed! great, just what we like, no probs. What do we do when we have more members attending regularly than we have space for games?? oooh! Dave

Wait and see if it starts to happen more regularly first . If it does then yes I guess you're hinting at a new location. Me I like where we are at the moment and of course they offer storage etc...

This is my point, we have a great venue, and not too pricey, so members get a cheap night out gaming...with beer, and all the toys upstairs. BUT we have been VERY good at recruiting, and sensibly shouldn't ignore the overcrowding issue, and look at solutions before it becomes a problem. Dave

Some sort of phased culling and/or euthanasia policy seems to be in order a la Logan's Run. Those with low membership numbers first, of course.

The venue is certainly a good one so I certainly think looking for pastures new should be avoided if possible. The Room we have could easily contain 10 different games if they are positioned even remotely well. I think last night we only had 6 games including the Boardgamers? As long as people consider the need to fit other tables in when setting up their game I think we can manage easily enough in the space we have, and personally I quite like the 'busier' enviroment. On the Culling / Wolf feeding plans, personally I think both are top notch ideas...

I would agree its a bit early thinking about a new venue; lets see how we go for the next few months; if the numbers stay up then maybe we will need to consider it. However if we are going to be busier then I would agree with John that we will need to give a bit more thought and planning to putting games on and how to best use the space available.

I agree with John, and others I suspect; if it becomes a problem then we need to think about using the space we have better.
Weren't there 7 games though? Which is pretty good going for a Monday.

Yes, I am loathe to quit such an excellent venue. We certainly will be hard pressed to equal it for value, and convenience. Maybe some kind of order in the table department is needed. I suggest we set them up in a "nationals" style end to end, this would maximise space I am sure, leaving the brown ones at the dart board end for anyone doing a game not on a 6x4 format. Dave

Another idea, but could take a little organizing (and Maybe not a popular idea) How about an extra day during the week, GW games one day of the week, Board Games/Other Wargames another night. Or we can find another way of spliting the group. This has several benefits: Reduce the number of people on 1 night, Although we have a lot of scenery, if we have too many games on at once, the terrain could get spread a little thin, and I can see if we get more the attic could start to overflow. Increase the space to expand further - (Take over the Venue These are just a few of the pros., but there could be cons too

Dave brought up the idea of a second all day Sunday a couple of months ago, one of the reasons I don't think this got further was that any increase in club time requires more organiser time from the club commitee. Especially now we are a GCN club I would expect we would need someone who is a commitee member (or at least CRB checked) at every session. Besides which we are still some way from full enough to need to make more space though I have to admit the second all day idea was one I liked

I was talking to Peter on the thought of an additional night, as it happens. He was not keen, and pointed out that this would double our outlay, with no guarantee of returns to cover it. To give an example, the Sundays are sometimes well attended, and sometimes (as with perhapse the last three) not well attended at all. The Mondays on the other hand have been fairly consistantly full, with a few occasions like last Monday, totaly rammed! So a new night in addition to Monday would be a risk. As for taking over the whole club, I doubt that is an option. For one, we couldn't hope to match the beer sales for it to be worth thier while, or the hire costs would be so expensive as to make it unviable. Dave
