I thought that I would give you all a quick up date regarding the ACW game for the 14th December. The commands are coming together nicely still space for a few more players. For the South we have Martyn (who has volunteered to be Lee; and yes it has already been said that someone needs to wear a white beard for Xmas) Dave W and Graham; for the North we have Steve W (who has stepped forward as Meade) Richard; Derek and Steve M.
Mark do you want to play? either way if you have a the time I would appreciate a little help I have plenty of ideas but you do have a knack for pulling these things together.
I would like us to use the army lists from day 2 of Gettysburg (I have had a request to include the Cavalry as well). As to table size if we take Lee's attack from the rule book as an example it suggests a 14 x 6 playing area (6 ft width could be a challenge for some of us) it would be good to have the space to move in.
For those of us with the figures could you give me a rough idea as to number of stands available; I am sure we have enough.
Nothing has been set in stone so if you have any ideas let me have them. Does anyone have suitable buildings I do have several including a station if I can find it; plus a few suitable terrain items.
I hope this works as it is the third time I have tried to post it!

Terry - I'd be happy to help you run things.
I've still not found those notes of mine, but I'll have a good look for them at the weekend and chat to you about it on Monday.
The scenario I'd fleshed out years ago was based on Gettysburg day2 and 3 armies (to increase the size of the Confederate one), and was preceded by a couple of Cavalry clashes to set up the actual position / arrival times for the main game.
Hope I can find it.

Thanks Mark; sounds ideal; I had thought about using the cavalry as a tool to fed back infromation ot each side via the umpire, but a couple of advance games would add to the flavour of the game.

This all sounds great. I have some 15mm ACW buildings, including the archway for the cemetary at Gettysberg(scratchbuilt, remember it Mark?). I will rummage amongst my minis and give you numbers. I assume you are making the stickers for the command stands, which we just allocate as the units are needed. Dave

Dave; I am hoping that when I know the numbers that I may be able to ask you and the other players with figures to form up their own commands and some of the others if needed, this will hopfully save a bit of time.

For my Union Corps I can contribute up to: 1 Corps General, 3 Division Generals, 18 Brigade command stands and 87 other infantry stands. I have only 4 batteries but no limbers at all, so I'll need help there.

Terry - I've found the stuff I'd been working on.
A quick glance though and I'd worked it out for:
Union (would make 3 or 4 commands)
7 Corp + Cav Division, 352 Infantry, 24 Cav, 40 Arty
Confederate (would be 3 commands)
3 Corp + Cav Division, 288 Infantry, 21 Cav, 32 Arty
That's quite a good arrangement for the number of players we have.

That sounds like it will work; are the armies as per the lists in the book? Interestingly the current copy of the Battlegames Mag has an article on the cavalry action on the 3rd of July using 6mm figures. We will have to try and get together and sort out a table layout. Once we have confirmed the army lists I can ask people to start to put together the commands.

Richards got an army - prepare for snow at Christmas boys. I have no idea where my ACW figures are but happy to look for them if they are needed. I am sure I can help Richard out with Union artillery.
