Had a look at a couple of things to stimulate the Wild West gaming in the club, at Warfare in Reading, today. firstly, have a look at the Dixon range, www.dixonminiatures.co.uk/dixoncatalogueI purchased some mounted mexican hombres, but they have a great selection of wagons, including a gorgeous stagecoach (must get!) and all maner of usefull bits and bobs, western piano, card tables, and chairs, a train and passenger car! I also checked out the TSS stand. They are doing a great range of "flat pack" buildings, with a neat Western range. Various frontages, with livery stable, lean too, and after Xmas, a large saloon is in the offing. I was talking to the proprietors, and we could order a village deal, with club discount. www.totalsystemscenic.com/prodtype.asp?PT_ID=206&strPageHistory=catcheck it out, what do you think? Dave

A couple of my models are from Dixon. I do like the look of that train though Those buildings look very nice too - the ones the club had are pretty good, although not that quality (as far as I can tell from the photos). The card ones Ove got are pretty good, but they're started to get a bit warped and damaged in that box, so I'm not sure how long they'll last.

Hi Dave; If I can find them I have a few odds and ends in the western line that you may be interested in I certainly have a stage coach that came from Tom and a few painted but more unpainted figures I am sure they are Dixon. I think they include the photographer and body in the coffin, the OK coral figures and passengers and crew for the stage. As regards the buildings I did look at the flat pack style they look OK but aren't they going to be of limited use?

How do you mean "limited use" Terry? They are western gunfight buildings, and are appx £8 each, so we could get a good deal for maybe 6 or so, plus a livery stable maybe. They did offer us a club discount, so we could be looking at £50 or so. The Normandy village was over £100. Dave

What I meant was they would be OK for western gun fights but not much else the 15mm and 25mm buildings we have can be used for many other periods. If you think this is going to be a long term interest then I am OK with it.

I've got a couple of Wild West resin buildings(unmade of course) I'm never going to use and I'll donate them to the club, if the club wants them, when I can be arsed to attend. I'm still looking to sell my cowboys and a lot of my other stuff to help fund a new project that starts in June.

Due to project of getting a new (?) car, I need all the money I can get so I'm afraid I'll have to pass this month. Really like the stagecoach from Dixon though, with Shotgun Messenger of course. ;D
I have to agree with Joe though, my cardboard buildings don't store that well, and all look a bit like "crooked houses" now.

Funnily enough I was also curious especially the time scale; there could be all kinds of speculation!

Speculate away! It's very much a long term project, lasting at least 16 years, but, knowing my luck, probably nearer 20. More hints will be given if neccessary but I suspect you can guess from the above.

Sorry for the thread hi-jack. Perhaps you could move it, Mark if it gets out of hand.

Sadly I cannot move posts - only whole threads.
I'm curious what Dave might be up to though so I'll start a speculation thread in "Owt Else" ;D

From experience I would suggest that 21-22 years is likely but could be longer.
