Dear all
I've been thinking through the theme for my little imperial guard army and decided to come up with names for the characters in the hope that:
1) the dice gods like miniatures with names
2) it might make people think twice about killing them with a single lethal template (you never know)
So therefore, in case anyone is interested:
Tavos III Cadian Training Camp Survivors
A sudden chaos incursion has left the training facility on Tavos III completely compromised. At the cost of many conscripts' lives, a tiny remnant of the main camp has managed to escape the carnage and is fighting a desperate rearguard action to reach friendly lines. An armoured company has its temporary base on the next continent. If they can get there, they stand a chance...
The five surviving members of the command structure:
Colonel Hart – Senior Officer
Commander of the whole training facility, Hart is a hard nosed disciplinarian. Passed over for further promotion he has been sidelined and is now trying to make the best of his failed career. Embittered, vain and obsessed with detail, he punishes his recruits severely for the slightest infraction.
Lieutenant Danson – Junior Officer
Charismatic, youthful and courageous, Danson has, up until the attack, managed to avoid much contact with Hart but as he is now the only other officer, the old man has taken a severe dislike to him and is tasking Danson with the most dangerous jobs.
Commissar Grant
Grant has been around and knows the score. He is amused by the rivalry between the two remaining officers but understands that although Hart is a fool, discipline is a necessary virtue and that Danson although talented has never really been tested. On the outside, Grant is staunch, aloof and inspires the fear and obedience necessary for a commissar. He is the real power in the camp and simply nudges Hart in the necessary direction from time to time.
Simeon – Sanctioned Psyker
As a powerful raw psyker, Simeon went willingly to his judgement by the emperor and although aged, blinded and scarred by the experience, recognises that it is the only sane option. Bound to the emperor and with his powers weakened to a manageable level he was assigned to Grant's staff and has not left his side since. Feared and ostracised by the rest of the camp he is the only person Grant confides in. His dark sarcastic streak enjoys the irony that it may well be his only friend who will execute him should he show any kind of corruption. However, he considers this prospect an act of mercy given the alternative.
Cadet Commissar Tanner
Assigned to Grant for training, Tanner is now getting a crash course. Grant has tasked him with keeping a direct eye on the conscripts ensuring their faith and obedience in the testing times ahead.
The surviving troops:
2x10 guardsmen led by veteran sergeants, they are recent graduates of the training camp.
30 conscripts
Hart and Danson's respective command squads (including the camp standard, medic and the one remaining melta gun – 8 men in total).
