As the rules for LoToW wasn't to everybodys taste, I've ordered the rules mentioned above from Amazon. With a bit of luck they'll arrive during the week. We'll still finish the Campaign with LoToW's ruleset, but I thought that a) the book looks good and b) there might be some interest in the Wild West again later on, I'm certainly up for it. And maybe there are some alternative melee rules Mike...

I'd be up for trying something again later on. Think I'd like a little break from the Wild West first though. Also there are so many other games in the pipeline.

Same here really, once were done with the current campaign I'd be looking for a two or three month hiatus before looking to start another wild west campaign.
That would hopefully give us a chance to get the WDC completed before we start up something else.

Just some quick info about these rules. Your individuals come in four different categories: Citizen (basically scared townsfolk), Gunmen (people who've been in battle before), Shootists (experienced gunfighters) and Legends (no introduction necessary...). You have a card for each mini and cut them like an ordinary deck of cards, pull a card and move that specific mini, instead of moving one side and then the other. You roll for movement, normally 3D6 inches, but some restrictions apply lika a Citizen HAVE to move the whole distance and things. You get a certain pool of D6 depending on the category of your fighter and method of attack (the more dice, the better). Each 6 you roll is a hit, but if you Aimed you can only score one hit, if Blazing away you can get multiple hits, but also run out of ammo and jam if you're unlucky! When you score a hit you roll two D6 of different colours, one for location and one for severity. Ranging from a scratch to instantanious death (only head and guts). Basically it's the same chance to kill anyone, whether they're a Citizen or Legend... Although as a Legend you might have a few Skills to save your bacon. After a game the individual might "level" up. A Citizen becomes a Gunman if they got the opportunity to shoot anytime in the game, irrelevant if they hit or not. A Gunman becomes a Shootist if they kill at least one enemy in the game, and a Shootist becomes a Legend if they kill at least THREE enemies in a game! Of note is that a mini might pass more than one level at the end of a game if they fullfill all the criteria. Ex. Lucky Frank survives the gunfight without a scratch on his body, he started out as the clerk in the General Store (Citizen), when the game is over he's killed Ugly Bert Barton, a notorius outlaw. He therefore becomes a Gunman for having fired his gun, and also graduates to a Shootist for having killed a man in battle. Next time they play, Lucky Frank is a Shootist, not bad at all! For him to become a Legend, he should shoot and kill at least FOUR enemies in a single gunfight, if you manage that you definately deserve to become a Legend . Bottomline: the rules are fairly easy, but still flexible. They're pretty complete, even covering mounted combat, Cavalry and Indians, drunks, madness, bystanders etc. They seem to be brilliant for a quick go-and-have-a-bash-game, but also for a longer campaign. The only thing is that every mini have a separate card, could just put it down on cardboard cut out of a cereal pack. We give it a go sometime in the future.
