This is a recruitment drive -- Your club needs YOUEvery so often our friends at Rushden Phoenix run an all-day Saturday meet, and they're planning one next month. For details see here: phoenixgamingrushden.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=clubevents&action=display&thread=652(I know there's not much detail yet but it's still only in the planning stages) Anyway, one of the suggestions is a large fantasy battle under the Legendary Battles rules. We've done this before and it generally works quite well. Well, I thought it might be fun to take a team from Bedford along to challange the Rushden boys. So, I'm looking for a couple of suicidal fools brave heroes to accompany me to Rushden and show 'em who's boss. The battle is set to be around 6-7,000 pts a side, which gives us each 2-2½k each to play with. Any takers?

Basically it's the 31st of October.
We hold our all day events on the last Saturday of every other month, it's the last Saturday partly to keep it simple for people to remember, and partly to keep it away from the Gladiators all day Sunday.

Thanks Steve
So people, we've got a month and a half to muster our invasion force
Any volunteers?

What's all this? Just one volunteer? With 1500pts worth of dwarves? Not exactly flocking to my banner here. Where is the Empire with it's massed batteries? Where are the wood elves with their mobile forests? Come on people, the honour of the club is at stake here.

OK, this is starting to look promising
I will most likely be taking down high elves
Under the legendary battle rules high elves, lizardmen and dwarves are listed as occational allies, so that's fine
With nidsplitter and James both supplying 1500 pts, that leaves me to pick up the remaining 3-4,000 pts with my elves
I can do that easily enough if necessary, but if either of you you can supply more I'm happy to cut my force down a little
Just so you both know what you're letting yourselves in for (please don't be offended if you've come across LB before) Legendary Battles is a set of extension rules allowing for very large warhammer battles with allied armies
The rules are a free download (if I can find the link I'll put it up)
We can talk tactics at the club on Monday

Sorry Mike, the idea of a LB just don't appeal to me. If we were playing inter-club 1 on 1 games then perhaps I'd be tempted, but those LB rules are (IMHO) pretty poor.

That's OK Mark, they're not to everybody's taste
Personally I quite quite like them -- but then again, I like the bigger games (to my mind it's only a battle if there are at least 2000 points on the table, anything less and it's little more than a border skirmish)
That being said some of the replies on the Phoenix forum have suggested some kind of inter-club torney instead
Either way I'd definately be up for it
Have to check with the Rushden people on that

James, nidsplitter
Are you both still up for this? And are you free for the all-day Sunday this week (11th)?
If so, how about we get together and discuss tactics?
Bring your armies along and we'll see sort out the army lists. Could even get a practice game in - you two v. my elves - so you can get used to the quirks in the Ledgendary Rules
Please reply on this thread if you're up for that.
Mike
P.S. James, get some paint on those dwarfs please -- we're upholding the honour of the club here
