I have recieved this email from the organisers of this convention in Manchester. I have asked for clarification on prices etc for people running a game, and for people who may wish to go for the whole weekend.
It is a little late notice, but are there any interested members? maybe take Picketts Elven Charge? It is the same weekend as SELWG though!

Hi,
I believe you’re in charge of your local club and as such I hope that you don’t mind me sending you and your local club an invitation to join us at Game 09 in Manchester on the 16th to 18th of October. Game is a truly multi-genre event with over 22000 sq ft of gaming space covering most (legal J ) games.
We’ve constantly attracted over 1000 gamers to GameCon and hope to do this again this year and maybe more.
Our Club Shield is part of the wargames’ club involvement – to participate you need to email you interest to wargames@gamecon.co.uk and you score point using this little chart:
10 pts - running a participation game
5 pts - running an exhibition game
4 pts - running a small demonstration game
3 pts - a member of your club wins a tournament
2 pts - a member of your club comes second in a tournament
1 pt - a member of your club participates in a tournament
But this is just the wargames side! As I mentioned, we’re very broad in our gaming activities and run lots of premier events and also a lot of demonstration games – note that you can join us at Game 09 and be some of the very first to get a chance to play the brand new Arcane Legions game, and we’re hosting a 50 seat ticket to ride tournament as part of the “rail” to the Nationals and world championships in 2010 in Paris!
This year we’re pleased to be hosting:
We've got a great lineup of casual and competitive games going on:
Boardgames:
Chess - Blitz and a GM Simultaneous Display (win some money here)
Shuuro UK Nationals
First ever Wings of War tournament supported by Nexus Games (IT)
Ticket to Ride UK Nationals Qualifier
Kings Cribbage
Lots of Fantasy Flight, Mayfair and Rio Grande demonstration Games
Boardgames library
Hordes of the Thing
Card Games
Magic:the Gathering - Pro Tour Qualifer (San Diego) and two GP Trials (Paris)
World of Warcraft Realm Qualifier
UFS UK Team Nationals
UK Flight Klub Nationals
Vampire the Eternal Struggle Drafting
Legend of the Five Rings
World's first War for Edadh tournament
UK Raw Deal Nationals
Miniatures
Warhammer 40k
Hordes of the Thing
Flames of War
Field of Glory
European DnD Miniatures Championships
Dreamblade
Wings of War
Bloodbowl
Arcane Legions
Roleplaying
We have 22 tables running each 5 sessions over the weekend, including:
5 tables of Pathfinder
7 tables of Living Forgotten Realms
Vampire
Cosplay (Street Fighter and Anime Festiva)
Qin
Maid
Demonwars
Starship Thingy
and loads more - too many to list (check the website)
Console Games
Late night Rockband Challenge
In addition we have loads of traders, the "trader gauntlet" raffle, the "Wench flag" drinks service system for Roleplayers and Boardgamers, re-enactors and Sci-fi Dress groups, TV coverage, cheap and nice food and drink, comfy seats and a great venue.
We believe gamers should have a great time and as such we're in a 4* hotel with massive facilities at very easy to find City Centre location. It's 1 minute from Oxford Street station, 7 mins from Piccadilly, 5 mins from Chorlton Street coach station, 4 mins from the St. Peter Square metro station and on a major bus route. The cheapest parking is probably on Charles Street near the old UMIST buildings, just off the Mancunian Way - they charge £2 for all day parking in their 700 space multi-storey car park and is about 5 mins from the venue.
I hope you can make it – and bring some friends.
Our website is at www.gamecon.co.uk and our facebook group: www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=101935845831&ref=ts - We're at the Palace Hotel on Oxford Street, Manchester, M60 7HA
