I ran a L2 with Scroll and Caliagnors Staff (allows multiple Treesings), L1 with 2 scrolls, and Alter Noble with HoDA etc.
How did it go on Monday?

It went ok, there were 24 players and everyone played 3 games. I took a list with Count Mannfred, One Vamp and a Wight King for a change. Played Skaven in the first round, quite a decisive win especially as my magic went well for the first two turns. Drew his scrolls in turn 1 and then Winds of Undeathed him in the 2nd turn. He suffered 9 wounds (including all 3 Ratling guns). Used the Spirit hosts raised to deal with one of his two units of 10 Jezzails and then took what was left apart in combat. Second game was against High Elves with a White Lion theme. He had two big White Lion blocks which took some killing but I don't tend to find HE much of an issue with Vampires (except heavy magic builds when they go right). Wiped him out except for a White Lion chariot. Third Game was against an pure Cavalry Empire army, I lost 1100 vs 2500. His army was Templar Grand Master, Warrior Priest, Fire Mage, 3 units of Knights, Large unit of Inner Circle Knights, a Steam Tank and two units of Pistoliers. The army wasn't cheesy but the entirely armoured nature made it a very strange beast to face with Vampires. For me the game came down to the result of a double charge of my Wraiths and Grave Guard into the Front and Side of his Inner Circle Knights with Templar and Warrior Priest in the unit. I lost that combat and due to the MR2 the unit had couldn't deal with it with magic. It was a very enjoyable game though, it showed up a slight flaw in the army build (I need something with str6+) and taught me a lot about facing heavy Cavalry armies. The Laurels of Victory on the Grand Master was horrid . I don't know if I would win a rematch but I could give it a good go.

I don't tend to find HE much of an issue with Vampires (except heavy magic builds when they go right). the entirely armoured nature made it a very strange beast to face with Vampires. So, you have trouble with heavy cavalry and with lots of magic Hmm, let me think... 10 dragon princes, 2 x 8 Silver Helms, and a heavily armoured knight to lead them Add in a few support units (bolt throwers, mages, archers) and we have an army You want cavalry? You want magic? We got cavalry AND magic Not sure I can fit all that into 1500 points (at least not with all the tooling up and supporting units I'd want), so we might have to field 2000, or maybe even 2500 (and yes, we can get through a 2.5K battle in an evening - you don't tend to have many more units than 1500, they just get bigger and tougher) Could be an interesting fight Fancy giving it a go sometime?
