Hello all,
My regular opponent has just moved to London, so I was planning to come along to your club night on Monday, if that would be ok?
I play 40k, MtG, Necromunda, BFG, Space Hulk, and am just getting into Warhammer Fantasy. I'm also always up for a bit of RP.
Hopefully see you Monday,
Graeme

Hello Graeme
Welcome to the Bedford Gladiators!
Please do come along on Monday and it will be a pleasure for the members to meet you.
Do you know where we are? We are located at the North End Working Mens Club which is located on the corner of Roff Avenue and Tavistock Street. To access the free parking at the club, drive 100 yards down Tavistock Street from the roundabout (you can see the NE Club from there) and turn left into Chandos Street. Follow this road round and pass Hallmark Cars and turn left into the car park.
Now we play lots of different games and some of the ones you mention im sure are played by our membership. We also play other games - historical games including American Civil War, WW2, Medieval, Ancients, Japanese Samurai, Air Combat, Naval, English Civil War, Modern and the list goes on. Im sure other members of the club can tell you about the fantasy games that we do. You can see on here the variety of games that we play.
How much does it cost? Your first visit is free and from then on its £2 per night (50p if you are un-waged). We also have an annual membership fee which is £6 and thats applied pro-rata. So if you join now, it'll be around £4. So - its cheap to join!
Our members are very welcoming and im sure there will be a game available for you to join in with. If you get stuck you can always join in with us on our superb WW2 Normandy battle and command some tanks!
We'll see you on Monday.
All the best
Steven

Hi Graeme,
As Steven says there's plenty of variety. I don't think we've seen much magic at the club but all the other systems you mention have players. If you're nearby it's well worth calling in, it's always easier to arrange games in person and Steven's WWII games are about as fantastic as 'backup' options can come (and d**n good main options if you like the setting).

Welcome to the club, Graeme! As the others have already said, there are just about as many different periods and games you can shake a stick at down at the club, and many members have their fingers in numerous pots ;D. Most of us I gather have enough forces to lend if you want to try something else. I personally almost only play 28mm skirmish games (Old West, Post-Apocalyptic stuff, ATZ (All Things Zombie) and Malifaux) and if you fancy a go at anything of these we can probably arrange something. Don't have any extra for Malifaux myself, but there are others at the club who play. Incidentally, we are about to start up a Post-Apocalyptic campaign, using Necromunda rules but not the world setting. If you want to join in the fun, the thread can be found here: bedfordgladiators.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sf&action=display&thread=1282

Will check out the post-apoc stuff - love necromunda so if you're using that ruleset then I'll deffo be game.

Hi Graeme
Always good to meet a new member
You mentioned you might also be up for a little role-playing
I'm currently running a RuneQuest game set in Glorantha (bronze age swords and sorcery) and you're welcome to give it try if you're interested
Alternately, if sci-fi is more your thing, John has just started up a Deathwatch campaign and I'm sure he'll be just as accommodating
Look forward to seeing you
Regards Mike

Thanks again for the kind welcome chaps. Was great to meet you last night, and sorry to the RuneQuest possee for my early exit. The other half gets most upset if I'm not home before 10.30 :-)

Hi Graeme
Hope you enjoyed the Runequest game (in case you are wondering I am the guy that was second through the tower window after you). Don't worry about leaving early - I certainly know the demands of a spouse!
In case you were wondering the fight hasn't finished yet. We are all through the window now and there seem to be plenty of guys to kill when you stop sneezing (mainly due to my inability to hit anything with a sword).

Ah good. I was more worried that I'd get a note in the email letting me know that my dude had been ganked by a bunch of beastmen while I wasn't there to watch him sneeze!
I had been rolling well over the odds before that started happening though, so fair's fair :-)
Have been in touch with Mike to round out my character some more, so should now be well prepared for next time.

Don't worry Graeme, I don't normally kill characters when their players are not present (unless it really is absolutely unavoidable)
You'll be OK for the time being as the broos have more pressing problems to deal with first -- most notably the heavily armoured Humakti with the burning dagger (Fireblade spell) who's just piled into them

Caught you the other week in passing, pleasure to say hi properly *smiles* Me and the couple of friends I usually play at gladiators play or have plans to play all the games you mentioned.
My MtG decks are a couple of years old, so little current edition things. As for the rest we've played 40k (as we were when you met us) and Space Hulk at Gladiators a number of times since we started earlier this year. My friends are trying to rebuild their BFG fleets but mine is in good condition so happy to game sometime.
Me & a friend are wanting to get some 40k double practise (fairly small, only 500pts each) in, we've one friend whose volunteered to be our opponent but as we need another I thought I'd offer the chance to someone new to Gladiators before putting up a general call. What do you think?

Hello,
Yeah, have never played 40k doubles-style so would be well up for that. I have Guard, Marines, CSMs, Nids and (unpainted) DE. Happy to bring along 500 points of any of those (I assume the 1HQ, 2 Troops restricion is waived for these games?!).
I'll also start bringing my Imperial BFG fleet with me, just in case. It is very easily transported after all.

We're practising a format Wayne set up for doubles tournaments he has ran in the past, so unfortunately the standard force organisation chart (1 HQ, 2 Troops etc) still applies despite the limited points. It does make for quite an enjoyable challenge setting up such a force however.
I think we're fine with whichever army you feel like using, a number of my stuff isn't painted yet (all my paintwork is going into an army which won't be based until I finish, so can't use) so no worries with that.
