Found this on the Bell of Lost Souls site. www.comicbookpage.com/WH40K/Heresy-Era-Ruleset-v2.pdfIts a rule set for gaming the Horus Heresy. This has nothing to do with being in the process of finishing off the latest Horus Heresy book (honest!!) but it strikes me with the resurgence in 40k thanks to the new rule release and the pending marine codex that this might make an interesting campaign setting or a good idea for a demo game. Thoughts - Comments? (Of course I've just started a Tau army so I'm not doing myself any favors by suggesting this) Bell of Lost Souls also produce the templates for producing your own transfer sheets for the 1st Founding legions.

I have to admit the BoLS Heresy stuff looks fantastic, I'd certainly be interested in doing a force based on it. The only caveat is that with so much going on at the club at the moment I think it's probably best planning it for the start of 2009.
Both Warhammer and FoW have leagues starting around now, and the Legends of the Old West campaign will be starting over the next couple of weeks. Waiting until some of these have finished will allow more people to get in on it.

I wasn't suggesting this year!
I was also thinking next year. Also I was thinking that if we ran it as a campaign we could ramp up battles from 500 points to 1000, 1500 and so on to give people a chance to get stuff done.
I was thinking of maybe wirting some scenarios etc.. and mission briefs so we can have themed battles.
Although the last time I ran a campaign at my old club I didn't take part but I would very much like to be involved with this.

Am I right in thinking your idea is for a club competition or campaign? I was a bit confused as a "Club Game" to me would be a large demo or participation game for use at shows.

A campaign would be very interesting, the BoLS book actually has a lot of the events etc in it so modifying it to match our needs should be possible and I doubt anyone would mind you playing if you were organising it, and if you don't want to organise it I'm sure someone else would be happy to.

Mark,
I was merely putting it forward as a good game/campaign setting. Hence the question mark.
I just thought that as the good people at BoLS had done all that good work it would be a shame to waste it.
I thought it would be an awesome campaign setting but would also make a cool subject for a demo game. Although arguably this would only appeal to GWites.
The Horus Heresy books are very enjoyable and it would be good fun to recreate some of the key moments if we could.
If it sounds over ambitious or just doesn't appeal to people thats cool also.
