Despite the discussion at the AGM regarding regarding the security settings to this forum, I note that you still have to log in to see anything at all.
Unless I was involved in an entirely different discussion to everybody, I am sure we agreed that the forum visitors should be able to see all the threads without logging in but have to log in in order to comment, reply, or otherwise contribute to the discussions.
This has the effect of demonstrating to any new visitors who happen to chance upon the forum that the club is both active and inviting.
The current settings give quite the opposite impression.
PS: Also the scrolling header banner is still stating that the next all-day Sunday is on the 10th February.

I think that explains very well what is required.
I am sure that Maurice and Mark will have a look into this. Changing the date of the next all day and keeping this up to date would certainly help keep the forum active and up to date. I do think that things are moving ncely with it - more of us are using the forum, contributing / adding pics and making it come alive. This will spread through the gaming world im sure and help to get more people in. Then we must be welcoming to new people and involve them in games as soon as they step through the door.
Quite a few new people have come along for one game and then never come back - they cant all have been put off by me thrusting them into a WW2 game on their first night.
The lesson is, more atractive games with excellent armies and terrain to entice them in!
Banzai!

I might be being over cautious with this thought but I know data protection can be complicated!
One thing the committee might want to consider is by opening up the forum, whether the club would also be opening up any personal details given by current or former members under the impression the forum is members only?
I suspect there isn't much but various members have dates of birth and locations and email addresses for view on their profile perhaps with the impression only members could see them. Others have them hidden. I don't know enough about the possible settings to know if it can be set for only members to see these details rather than guests? And whether this can be set centrally?
There *might* also be the odd thing that is in the text of people's posts too.
We could ask people to check both their profile and posts but many people have posted and moved on.
We could, if we wanted, move recent and pretty stuff we are sure about to a new forum and start again. This gives the chance to have a tidy up of categories to reflect current club games but, on the other hand involves more effort!
Just some thoughts! I think a public forum for our club is definitely the way to go. Just not sure if we ought to open up this one?

The general rule is that your data is your property, and that we (that is the club) may not publish it without your consent. For that reason CMS systems (like the proboards software) normally provide a mechanism to allow registered users to control which data is, and is not, shown on the front end. To change your setting: Click Profile on the main menu Click the Edit Profile button Click the Privacy tab Set up what you want to allow the system to show and/or hide in here For example, if you want to show you email address to registered users but not to unregistered guests select Share with registered users in the Email Visibility dropdown field. Finally, click the Save Privacy Settings button at the bottom of the screen and you're done. IMPORTANT: It is YOUR responsibility to tell the system what you want to show and what you want to hide -- it's not psychic so it can't do this for you

Just a little bump
I notice that we still need to log in in order to see anything at all
Also, the banner is still proudly proclaiming that the next all-day Sunday is on the 10th February
