Hello All
I'm currently reading through the Ellis Peters Cadfael novels. Just finished number 9 of 20 which is Dead Mans Ransom. This is set in the spring of 1141 in Shrewsbury during the height of the civil war between King Stephen and the Empress Maud.
Towards the end is an interesting set piece skirmish and I thought it might make an excellent game scenario for a show or club game.
Some Welsh raiders from Powys are attempting to cross a ford and storm a nunnery currently defended by one young Welsh noble, 30 or so local woodsmen and villagers and a few brave nuns. There are roughly 100 Welsh raiders who have to negotiate a pitted, and spiked riverbank. The villagers must hold out until a force of local militia arrive led by the deputy sheriff.
Thought it might make for some interesting scenery and a fun game. You're the experts however but I thought I'd mention it in case it's a useful idea for the future?
