The Corporation has initiated Containment Protocol on Omicron Persei 8 - the reason is given as an outbreak of the Plague.
The Planetary Emperor, Lrrr, had been "rescued" and is currently being entertained by the Corporation.
Enforcer warships have cordoned off the planet and it has been erased from all Civilian shipboard navigation systems to prevent unauthorised arrivals. Most ships headed this way have managed to "crash out" of hyperspace safely. Several are still missing, presumed lost.
Several small Marauder ships were identified in the vicinity before vanishing from the scopes - as always in these cases there are rumours of the Plague being used to mask finds of Alien Technology and Wealth, which attract these mercenaries.
On Planet, teams of Enforcers are hunting for the Marauders and cleansing small enclaves of Rebs who are resisting the Enforcer ground forces - it's a dirty, nasty mass of urban combat.....
Next game is 1st June - come and have a look if you haven't seen it before!!

Your blurb whets the appetite really well. What game is it, though ?

Hi Martyn The game is Deadzone. It's a futuristic sci fi skirmish game played on a 2' by 2' mat divided into cubes for simple movement and range calculation. I've only played it twice but enjoyed it immensely. The rules are streamlined but with plenty of interesting tactical and strategic choices. Damon's Deadzone set is also brilliantly painted (unlike mine which is still in its box!). Publisher is Mantic games and you can see several photos on this forum and also the club's meet up page. Hope that helps Chris

Hi Martyn,
As Chris says, it's a hard & fast urban skirmish in a very close area!
Lots of buildings and cover mean you have to sneak around to get a line of sight- but if you can see any part of the enemy figure, you can fire at it!
Forces wise you have - The Enforcers, a human "police" force that enforce the Corporations grip on planets and stations Marauders - Orks if you will, engineered as highly trained troops for the Corporation back in the day, they now work for themselves Rebels - A mixed bag of races pushing back against the rule of the corporation Plague - a "space virus" that mutates all that come into contact with it, bodily modifications & mental abilities abound!!
I'll give you a heads up next time we're playing it & you can have a look/play.
Cheers,
D
