Steven and I will be having a game of CoC, as it is amusingly abbreviated, on the above date. We've both played it once and I've done my best to learn the rules but nothing beats actual table experience so there will be a certain amount of faffing about with this game, I suspect.
Forces are, as yet, undecided but could be German vs Soviet during the Barbarossa campaign. Much depends upon what I myself have painted as well as leaning on Steven's own copious stocks :-) The basis of the game is an infantry platoon on each side plus a scattering of support options (usually along the lines of an extra mortar, a lone tank, some engineers, etc).
Observers and advisers are very welcome; I'm not sure I can turn this one into a multi-player experience at this point while still something of a beginner. However, some co-operative decision making and rolling of fateful dice is entirely possible.

OK Morgan well i will be there.
Just to note my infantry is more Mid and late war.
However i suggest we use the stndard German Heer platoon that i have against Soviet Blacksea marines, thus replicating the attack on Sevastapol!

For my part, I am very happy to use models that are not 100% representative of the "authentic man on the ground" (for example, Late War Germans representing Early War or whatever). My own are something of a mix-and-match, depending upon what I've been able to obtain. The most important thing is that models carrying LMGs are distinguishable from riflemen, officers can be picked out, etc. However, the real constraint is that we need to use the force lists that are currently available for the game. So, for 1941/Russia, we have lists for German infantry (Heer, as you so rightly say) and for Soviet infantry. Now, if you're happy to treat the marines as if they were organised along the same lines as typical Soviet infantry (which, who knows, they might have been) that's all good by me. Check here for the relevant PDFs showing each platoon: toofatlardies.co.uk/blog/?p=5022That tells us what we need as a minimum for the basic platoon (how many riflemen, etc). In addition, there are the various support options which are 'purchased' dependant upon a pre-game dice roll. Naturally, one is also bound by what one has available to put on the table. I will have a look at my own plastic forces tomorrow and see what I have available.

OK thats fine. The Soviet Blacksea Marines was suggested simply because i don ften get to use them. We can always pad them out with other Soviet infantry that i have.
They are readily idenitiable - rifle, SMG, LMG etc although i have problems due to my poor eyesight.
Looking forward to it!

Yes thy did have a fearsom reputation!
I think the platoon is basically 2 sections of 10 men each plus an HQ of around 6 figs plus a Maxim HMG, if i remember correctly.
We can easily add more troops from my standard Soviet platoons.
I hope we might get some more players?

Will has let me know that he, unfortunately, needs to work on Sunday. If anybody else is interested in giving the game a try, just shout. Not that I need any help to deal with my opponent ... I can lose spectacularly without the slightest assistance!

Morgan
A most interesting game. Great to see the BT-7 and Panzer II pointlessly firing at each other for the whole game!
Thank you

And thank you for providing some unbreakable opposition. I now need to remember the various questions and problems that came to mind during the game and see if I can find some answers (both rules questions and tactical ones, I think).
