Andoran is, supposedly, a Utopian society where the rights of all sentient beings are fully respected, regardless of race, gender, ancestry, religious beliefs or economic status.
In practice bandit gangs, foreign slave raiders and barbarian tribes threaten the peace of the fledgling democracy while disgruntled nobles, unscrupulous merchants and corrupt politicians jostle for political advantage.
Add in disillusioned commoners, downtrodden peasants and rabble-rousing orators and it’s enough to make an adventurer yarn for a nice, safe, monster-infested dungeon.

So much for the fluff
I am proposing to run a short(ish) Pathfinder campaign set in Andoran – Golarion's first fledgling democracy
The intention is to start this shortly after Chris has finished his Star Wars campaign, so there is plenty of time yet
I am aware that some of you are have already started planning your characters for this, which is great by the way, so I thought it might be helpful to post a little background information now
I will be looking for between four and six players, so please post here if you would like to take part
All welcome of course – the normal first come, first served rule applies
Confirmed sign-ups
Chris – fighter or similar with polearm (probably)
Graham – tiefling (if I recall correctly) – can you please confirm Stephen – pyrokineticist Maurice – human or teifling inquisitor Craig – human wizard

Campaign Setting
The campaign will mostly run in and around the district of Peaksdell, which is located in the southern foothills of the Aspodell Mountains. This is primarily a sheep farming area (largely because there is little else that can survive here) and the area owes much of its prosperity to the wool trade. The district’s economic and administrative centre is a small market town, also called Peaksdell, which has grown reasonably prosperous on the proceeds of the wool trade. (Think middle-ages English county.)
The population is mainly (around 90%) human of Chelaxian or Taldan stock, although there are small minority populations of most of the core races.
The area is staunchly on the side of the newly formed democratic order, as founded by the People’s Revolution in 4669 AR. In fact it was one of the first to pledge to the new order when the then teenage Baron Gilburtz declared allegiance to the newly founded People’s Council.
Whether he did this from genuine support or political savvy is, to this day, a subject of considerable debate. Regardless of his motives this has allowed him to retain a kind of ‘constitutional monarch’ position within the local area.
A call for adventures
The campaign begins in the year 4715 AR, nearly half a century after the People’s Revolt. Baron Gilburtz, now well into his 60s, holds several (largely honorary) positions with the district. Although he no longer wields the absolute power enjoyed by his ancestors, he retains considerable influence and his name is widely respected.
So when the old baron puts the word out to the adventuring community that he needs trustworthy people with proven adventuring experience there is no shortage of applicants.

Character Generation
Build a 3rd level character using the point buy system.
You have 22 points to spend on characteristics.
You may create any combination of race and class you wish, but bear in mind that for some of the more uncommon races you will need explain your character’s connection with the area. You can do this in your character background.
Background
Write a short background description for your character. This does not need to be very long (I am not looking for War and Peace here) detailing some of your character's more prominent exploits to date. Remember, you are only 3rd level so this does not need to be truly heroic or outstanding (rescuing a few wayward and characteristically stupid sheep is probably quite sufficient).
If your character is not a human of either Taldan or Chelaxian ancestry you should also include an explanation of how and why your family reside in the area. This can be as simple or complex as you wish. As a rule anything that makes a reasonable amount of in-game sense is perfectly fine, but remember that your character must have been resident in the area for long enough to be accepted as 'one of us'.
Alignment and Personality Traits
Select an alignment for your character as normal. In addition you should devise three personality traits for your character. These are short (one or two word) phrases that describe key aspects of your character's basic morality and/or outlook on life. Each should be qualified with a short description (no more than a sentence or two) explaining how this effects his/her behaviour.
Family
PCs must have family connections within the Peaksdell District. You should specify your family’s main or primary profession. This defines what the majority of your relatives do for a living. It does not prevent some members of your family from following some other profession, nor does it limit you own choices in any way. Note that if you do not specify a family profession it will be assumed that they are sheep farmers.
You should also name any key family members (e.g. the head of the family), any with whom you have a particularly close relationship (e.g. spouses, parents, children, siblings, etc) and any who stand out for some reason.
For each of these you should provide a basic identity (name, race, age, sex, etc), profession (i.e. how they make a living) and your relationship with them. Do NOT specify class or level, these will be assigned by the GM if the issue ever becomes relevant. In most cases you should assume that your relatives are all low level Commoners unless the GM specifies otherwise.

Restrictions
Alignment
Evil alignments of any kind are not allowed as they are not consistent with the basic theme of the campaign and are therefore forbidden. (Besides, writing in a common goal capable of keeping a party of evil working characters together is beyond my limited creative talents.)
Firearms
Firearms are rare to the point of non-existence in all but the largest cities in Andoran. As Peaksdell is a small country market town there are absolutely non to be had. In fact most people do not even know what a musket is. This effectively restricts certain character classes based around the use firearms, such as the gunslinger.

I'd like to play Mike.
Won't be down at the club tonight as not feeling well but thought I'd reserve a spot in this.
Character and background to follow - a human pole arm fighter I think
Am I right in assuming we can also pick 2 traits and will start with 3000 gp as per the wealth by level chart?
Many thanks Chris

Just to clarify – if I haven't stated specifically above, all rules are exactly as per the Pathfinder rulebooks
So, yes Chris – 2 character traits and 3000gp to spend

Sounds fascinating and would be interested (especially as, by chance, my PFS half-orc is from Andoran) but my unreliable attendance counts against it. However, if you ever want a stand-in to play the odd NPC or something, I'd be happy to assist (if I'm around! :-) )

Morgan, I'm a little confused.
Does that mean you want to play or not?

Apologies. It means that I would love to play but know that I won't be able to commit to a regular appearance so I'm a "not".
