Hi folks
Many thanks for playing last night! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and hope you did too.
I wasn't too sure how the pre written adventure would play out but I thought it had pace, a bit of tension and was also flexible enough for me to adapt to what you wanted your characters to do.
I thought the combats were quick and snappy in the main which is also good.
Let me know what you thought and if there's anything you'd like me to adjust or do differently.
The game will continue in two weeks when your newly levelled characters will try to win back and secure the keep's sally port. Meanwhile the dragon is still circling and the looting bandits and cultists continue to take what they can find... What are the cultists trying to do? Why do they need loot? Why does the dragon not just kill you all? Tune in in two weeks to find out more...

Thanks for running that Chris.
You're right about about the combats. They are quicker than in Pathfinder at the price of being somewhat less tactical. Not an entirely unreasonable trade-off, I feel.
I would say they are essentially better the PF, nor would I say they are any worse, but they are different enough to give the game a different feel.
Regarding the next session: I am definitely up for pitching and re-taking the sally port. I am also perfectly happy to run around beating up cultists, kobolds, looters and assorted minions. But (and I think I just might have mentioned this once or twice), I am not suicidal and for this reason I am NOT FIGHTING THAT DRAGON.

Dragon? Yes count me in I am always up for fighting a dragon or two….it is dungeons and dragons that we have signed up for after all.
Thanks for running it Chris – I had a lot of fun and have levelled up my character already.

Hello Heroes Just a quick note to confirm that the next session of our 5e game will be on Monday 3rd July as agreed last week. On the bright side that gives those of us playing solid roleplaying at the moment a chance to play other things on 19th. In my case I'm planning to try out the new 40k with Morgan

Coming soon (tomorrow night in fact!) Episode 2 of the Horde of the Dragon Queen.... That's right - one way or another, the long night attack the heroes have endured so far will finally end in tomorrow's session. But what happens next? Here's a sneak preview: For copyright purposes, I'll include a review of the artwork in the book here. It is stunningly lovely but for spoiler purposes I'm not showing you the rest of this image. See you tomorrow!

Sounds like there is an urgent need for a (level 2) folk hero (or two).

Mike (954 rather than Mike A) have you had any offers for 40k or AoS tonight? If not you are welcome to try 5e with us?
I had been reticent about adding a 5th player but I think it's simple enough to up the difficulty - we can try it and see.
I'll bring some pregens in case you'd like to join in!

Curses! I saw this post too late! I would definitely up for giving this a stab in future though.

Great stuff. You are welcome to join us on Monday. You can either use one of the pregens I'll bring along or you can create your own level 2 character using point buy for stats and starting equipment / gold (your choice). Currently there is a wizard, a rogue, a cleric and a multiclass paladin/warlock. Biggest gap is another character who always wants to be on front line in a fight e.g. Fighter/ barbarian. Shout if further questions.

I have created a feral druid who should be able to get stuck into melee and take a significant amount of punishment. If you would like to know more please see the three page D&D character sheet I have saved on Dropbox at the link below. I can roll a barb or fighter class as an alternative so just let me know. Half-Orc Druid Lv 2Edit: As an alternative please see below for a themed fighter build which is hopefully sturdy enough. (I have put some placeholder spells in for when he hits level 3, they aren't accessible at level 2.) Variant Human Fighter Lv 2 (Eldritch Knight)
