I can see the buiseness sense in all this, but think that at the same time due care and attention particularly to the finer details and possible pit falls, should be taken into consideration. I think that any such store opening within the mk centre would need to be strategicaly placed as to maximize emediate publicity and turnover due to the high rent. On the other hand in contrast to that, carefull forethought and planning should be made reguarding the location, as not to tip the apple cart with gw as gw products are one of the proposed partnerships major sellers. loosing gw as a supplier would be fatal! I hope that this enterprise will infact work out for them both as they have both put a lot of stakes and risks into the hobby through these out- lets and have served the wargaming community dilligently. they will both need as much support as posible and of course i am sure they will receive that support. We can only hope that they think it through properly and make there move decisively and with compitence.

I hope so, Mark. We remember MR&ME in Kempston, moving from a profitable premises to a massive shop in a shopping centre, and going out of business in a short period of time. What was it, 18 mths, 2 years? And that chap had a great mail order business, but in model trains. Dave

Here's an update on the Wargames Workshop situation. Carl will be moving to a small shop in Cranfield w/c 15th December - please see the news item on his website www.wargamesworkshop.co.uk/News.aspx?NewsID=604. He's currently reducing stock in the shop to focus on his main lines, so why not pop in for some bargains! The online business is unaffected. We'll still be gaming on a Monday, but this will now be at the Cranfield University Social Club over on the campus. First night there is 22nd December. As this takes us off WW premises we'll probably have to form some sort of club, which we'll be sorting out in the New Year. We are also searching for a suitable venue for weekend gaming/tournaments. A few irons are in fires! If anything else comes up I'll let you know here.

Things are a little confusing! Will the new shop be just that, a shop? similar to the last premises but on a smaller scale? or is it just a base of operations for Carl's web business with very little stock? And I guess that means this weekend is the last in the big shop? There was also word (from Tom of Hydra) some time ago of a move to CMK. Is this still on the cards, do you know? Dave

I believe that the new premises are just a shop. Not sure about stock levels as the web business continues and there needs to be stock for that.
The proposed move to CMK is off until business picks up again.
For Saturday games/tournaments, on of the other regulars has hopefully secured a room on Cranfield University Business park (where he has an office), so we'll see what we can organise in the New Year. Probably have to be limited to once or twice a month and need a minimum number of entries if we have to pay for the room.
More news as I have it. Last night of Monday gaming at the shop is 15th December as Carl moves premises in 16/17th.
