I don't know whether this has been discussed or not, but will there be any Christmas activity at the club (food and drinkwise)?

There are a couple of plans. Traditionally we have a curry evening, a few beers, then of to the Sagar in Tavistock street. I have also proposed a buffet or something to be provided at the last all day Sunday of the year, in December. This in lieu of the usual £100 subsidy the club puts towards the curry night. The question is, what do people want for the eats at the All day Sunday. A finger buffet, with sandwiches, sausage rolls, crisps, maybe cakes , that sort of thing. A chillie was suggested, with rice. or a curry with rice. I will put up a poll tommorrow with any other suggestions people have. Dave

I agree with Steve; we need a curry! this is a pre Christmas tradition that we need to keep going regardless of whether the club contributes or not.

Although I shall be there at the December all-dayer, I would personally prefer the club's money to be used for a subsidised curry than for a Sunday buffet.

I too would prefer the club subsidising curry rather than sausage rolls. Although I'd prefer it if we weren't subsidising either to be honest.

I'm an inbetweenie and a bothie? I agree we should have a club curry whether or not the club contributes anything - perhaps rather than a £100 to the meal it pays £20 - £30 for the first round of drinks in the pub instead?
I think it would be nice to have some food at the December all day Sunday - again whether or not the club pays. I would pay £5 for some sandwiches and crisps etc? This is less important than the club curry though as there are food outlets around us and we can always order food at the bar.
With regards to spending club money with the greater number of members I think it is more urgent we have more tables and terrain if there is enough space to store it.
Anyway this topic seems ideal for a poll or two Dave/Mark?

OOOOH!!! why is it people get the wrong end of a stick in a completely different forest!! Curry should happen, just not subsidized. Especially, as was pointed out at the time, we had a summer curry that was subsidized already this year. The rationalle for the food on the last Sunday of the year, is that we have the same crew at the curry every year, which is all cool, great, etc. But.. I think it leaves out those who for whatever reason cant make it or don't like curry. And they pay subs too! The cost at the Sagar is so cheap anyway, I think £100 is neither here nor there, another £5 on everyones bill. If members are against spending club money, on social events, what should it be spent on? Dave

Yes, the poll. I am sorry I didn't get to it, Lyn has been in hospital, and only came out today. So finger buffet, chillie con carne, curry, or subsidise the currynight with no buffet, or increase subs on the day to cover food...that is the choices I think! Dave

Curry - of course! Peter - organise NOW!!! Faster!! Food at All Dayer - NO - takes up space, messing about, how many do you cater for? Dont see point to be honest, but thats a personal view. I do agree with the the other chapos though - i dont really see the advantage of susidising the curry - its only an extra £5 on the bill for all. Id rather the money was spent on terrain etc and, dare i say NEW STORAGE SHELVING!!
i CEASE!
I return tomorrow - make way peasants!

I think it leaves out those who for whatever reason cant make it or don't like curry. And they pay subs too! I intend to go to the curry regardless of subsidy, and the same is true for the all day Sunday. It really doesn't matter to me if club money is spent on either, or saved for some other use. If we do a buffet or some such on the December all day then I'd be willing to pay extra if it is decided not to sub it, so it might be worth seeing who would take that up (it seems like it's going to be a good turnout anyway ).
