For the past months, we've been engaged in playing a Wild West-style skirmish game, in case some people missed it. It was built up with a couple of scenarios and on Monday we played the Grand Finale.
To make it more interesting, I decided for ALL 5 of us to go on the same table, competing for the win, namely the money that was stolen from Wells Fargo before the first chapter. The ambition was sound, however, I had grossly miscalculated the time we would need to finish, simply put, not enough hours! The participants have been:
Ove- Hex's Harrowers, deadly and notorious Outlaws.
Stephen M- Irish Mob, immigrant badmen.
Joe- Lawdogs, righteous men and citizen.
Dave W, a.k.a. El Jefe- Mexican low-lives.
John- Texas Rangers, men of immense valour and virtue.
After the first 3-4 games or so, John was in the lead and kept it, and kept it, after a while there was no doubt who'd win the game at all, despite this everyone played on to see the end, which is a good thing.
We found that we'd have to adjust the Campaign rules quite a bit to keep Posses in the game, if you've had a bad streak and lost a few games, it would be extremely difficult for you to get back in the game again. Both Joe and Stephen had to "re-start" their Posses quite early in the campaign due to them being shot to pieces.
Being the first ever mini game in my life so far, I'm actually pretty happy with the construction of the scenarios, it's been a fun process.
I'd like to thank everyone that played, and especially John for putting forward the idea of Chapters and Dave W for being a good sport, providing colour and flair to the game and odds and sods (need a Stagecoach? No problems, I've got one!).
I'd like to do something more Wild West-style in the future, and have acquired the Rules with No Name for that purpose, see other thread in the Wild West-folder.
