Given the SC's/comp discussion taking place in the 2009 folder, I was just wondering if anybody though any of the armies fielded in last years tournament were OTT?

I didn't think any of them were particularly bad, although as I didn't play everyone there are a handful of armies that I didn't really see much of.
My own army was at least a bad as anything else I saw, and quite a bit worse than some. Unfortunately with Skaven you're pretty much forced down the high magic, lots of shooting route if you want to be reasonably competative.

Personally I didn't come across any "bad" armies. Ironically my main worries were against the High Elves where the ASF can be damaging against my unarmoured Gor and won both those games. I didn't think Stephens list was bad at all and was typically Skaven. Even against the VC's I had a close game that could have gone either way. I think my worst game was against Terry but that was because I'd had a bad day at work and we didn't start until 8 and by the point I'd rather have been at home with a cup of tea on the sofa ;D So the moral there is "have the day off before a game and you'll feel refreshed and up for it in the evening"

There were 5+ very competitive lists in the tournament, a couple of which were arguably as good as possible given the army book. I don't feel any of them were OTT even for none tournament use. That said there are only a couple of very specific army builds that I'd actually ask not to play in a 'friendly' environment.

Hi folks,
Nothing specific, just right now DE and Demons are top table in any competition right now, based on 2 tournys i went to recently and what i read on various forums and of course what ive played against. So a DE or Demon build can be filthy. It just depends on how competitive you want to go.
For example. High elves have 2 competitive builds only. Teclis or Prince on Stardragon with Starlance. And the teclis list hasnt won any of the recognised tournaments around the world, only the Stardragon list has won a grand tournament.
Dwarfs, Orcs and Goblins, Ogres are not even competitive at grand tournament level.
Empire have to take stupid things like double Steam tank lists etc.
