Yesterday I attended a very enjoyable 40K Appocalypse game at Rushden Phoenix. Whilst we were there the idea of a day of gaming between our two clubs was proposed. This could have one of several formats, depending on interest. 1) A game of Appocalypse, Bedford Vs Rushden 2) An interclub tournament Bedford Vs Rushden
The Tournament could be either, purely 40K, purely WFB or each club entering 2 teams of players, one for each system, with points from games on a win lose or draw basis going towards the team score. The thought was to potentially have this in October at the Rushden club venue. Any thoughts? Dave

Personally I'd prefer option 2, but that's because I have no interest in Apocalypse.
Did you and Rushden have a date in mind?

Personally I think Apocalypse sounds like a "fun" idea where as a tournament could get a bit too serious.
I'm thinking back to your previous comments about inter club tournaments all be it in different circumstances.

The date of the event is in Stephen's hands, as Phoenix now have a bi monthly saturday all day meet, and I couldn't remember the date in October,tp be honest! As far as the last interclub tournie, I believe you are on about the one between Bedford, Rushden, and Northampton. That tournie was flawed in the way points were scored, and had some non GW game systems that using the old VP system in GW games wouldn't have worked to make team points. The Simplest method is for each game to award 2 points for a victory, and a point each for a draw, without recourse to VP's at all. The Appocalypse game would be great if only 3 or 4 people wanted to play per side, the little tournie would cater for a larger number, which was the thought. Plus we have alot more 40k and WFB players in the club now, and it would be a great day for them to meet and play another club,so enhancing the being a member of a club experience Dave

The date for the next Phoenix all day Saturday booking is the 31st of October. That will be 10am through to 5pm, although we do tend to get down a little earlier to get things set up and there isn't any issues with over running slightly at the other end either.
I don't have any personal preference as to what gets played. The thoughts on the tournament was more to allow people who don't play 40K or who aren't interested in Apocalypse to take part as well.
We have nine pairs of tables, so that would allow us to do a variety of things depending on interest from both clubs memberships. There would be nothing stopping us playing both an 40K Apocalypse game for those that want to do that, plus also having a large game of Warhammer, or several smaller Warhammer games, or even WAB or Flames or anything else anyone might want to play.
I know from the Phoenix side we'd have no problems finding people to play another Apocalypse game, and we've got plenty of Warhammer players who are usually up for a Saturday's worth of gaming.

Planning as far ahead as 31 Oct not my speciality, but am interested in the event. Old hand at WFB, brand new to 40K, but have an increasing interest. Therefore happy with either option, 40K would give me an excuse to buy more figures!

Sounds like we've got enough interest to definitely run an Apocalypse game then.
Given how the last game we ran played out, I’m thinking that 4 players a side max, and 3,000 points max per player is probably the way to go, just to make sure that a decent number of turns can be played. We got four turns done last time, and we were a bit slow getting deployed and started, so could probably have managed 5 turns without too much trouble.
Having spoken with some of the Phoenix guys who aren’t that interested in 40K, they’re keen on playing a multi-player larger scale game of Warhammer, something along the lines of 3 players a side, with a 6,000 – 7,000 points combined army. Would this be something that some of the Bedford Warhammer guys would like to take part in?

I'm not a fan of huge Warhammer games, as I don't think the game scales well at all. I'd be up for some 1 on 1 action though - although I'm not sure I can make Oct 31st.
