Just a personal reflection and I mean no disrespect to anyone at all. I have been a member of the club for about 8 years now, and most members have attended the club longer than I have, but correct me if I am wrong. Lately it seems to be quite a few more games going on across the board, of varying character. There could be X-Wing star fighter battles fought side by side with some ancient armies having at each other, meanwhile there's a board game lurking in the corner and the role players congregating in a section of the room . Hell, Matt and I even dragged Steven and Peter into playing Imperial Teddybears vs. Dinosaurs and Car Wars!!! (Thanks chaps!!!) I think it's great to come down to the club and see those tables and all that lovely scenery being used, some new games have been suggested and I am very much inclined to spending a little bit of my money and taking the plunge into these foremost, as it seems they have garnered enough interest to at least have a couple of try out games: - Strange Aeons 2nd ed. (I have started a small collection to have ready for the October release of the rules, 1920's horror a la Call of Cthulhu/ Chill). - 7TV (will VERY likely get some of my money payday, 60/70's spy-fi TV episodic action drama which I've considered for some time). - In Her Majesty's Name (Victorian steampunk that looks promising, maybe have an initial test game before buying a league). - Empire of The Dead (Something I have come across and find appealing, but sitting on the fence about. Does anyone own rules/ minis?) Ove.

Well Ove the Swede, i think a number of things have happened.
1. Mike and Maurice have made some excellent changes to the website, the forum and have introduced the excellent Meetup site. This has bought some new fun chaps to the club 2. The recent game at Milton Keynes has also served us well in recruiting and galvanising the club 3. The AGM - i think we all realised that we have to do something together, play games and stimulate the membership to put games on each week.
All of this together with new games being introduced by members, new terrain and minatures, a new sign outside, some excellent role playing games particulalrly at the all day sunday.
Together these activities have stimulated (am i permitted to use the word "stimulated"?) us all and has an effect thats greater than the sum of the small activities.
Its great to see, lets keep our club rolling forward!

Ove, i think i have the 7TV rules - shall i bring it along next week for you to borrow? I know Damon has a set. Let's indeed move the club forward and put on some fun games!!!! YES, I think the word 'stimulate' is used in a proper and orderly fashion here, 'excitement' might be another one, as in: "The players could hardly contain their EXCITEMENT as the dice rolled, this could turn the tide of battle!!!" No worries mate, I have downloaded the beta 2nd edition ones and have had a read through, now I need to invest in some card stock and print off the cards !!! Damon is a little rules hoarder isn't he !!!

Yep, pretty much what what Steven said.
You're right Ove, the club is a lot more vibrant these days.
The fact that this has happened immediately after Maurice and I opened up the online presence must be more than mere coincidence. I know, for an absolute fact, that at least one of the new members found us on the meet-up board (so well done Maurice, obviously worth the sign-up fee).
Put simply, people can actually find us now.
And of course, new members bring new ideas and that galvanises the rest of us.
This is all to the good I say.

Well done chaps!!! As players we all enjoy to bring our 'toys' out of the cupboards, be it rulebooks for RPG's, board games that have been sitting on a shelf since 1986 or a rarely played with collection of Martian Infantry. And I think this 'new deal' has come off well, new games, new ideas, new BLOOD, all good stuff. Although I assume most of us have our 'preferred' games to play (even I do), there's usually a space or two for anyone who wants to drop in when I run a game, so by all means pop by, grab a handful of minis and join into the madness !!! I might even venture into buying the rules Gutshot, which apparently is a referee/ GM led RPG light old west skirmish game where the players control ONE character each, so suitable for multiple participants (5+). Once again, good job indeed!!!

As to Meetup i know that Will our young chap from Flitwick found us that way, and i beleieve that Morgan had seen us at the MK show and then picked us up through the various websites. Colin found Damon through the Facebook page and now comes along with him.
So there we go.

Actually, it was sort-of the other way around for me. I moved to Bedford just over a year ago and had a quick google for local wargaming clubs at the time. I turned up a website (was it an older version of the 'wordpress' site?) but it wasn't very apparent whether the club was active or not. I guessed that it probably was but it didn't give a particularly lively impression and I didn't prioritise any attempt to make contact 'cos I'm bone-idle. Then, a few months ago, I happened to search again and this time I found some of the recent online activity although, again, I forget exactly where. (Perhaps it was on this board? Did it become more publicly accessible at that point?) It also revealed the presence of a Facebook group which made it easier to make initial contact. I also spotted at that point that you'd be at the Milton Keynes show so decided to combine a shopping trip with a wander around the show.
In short: it was the increased web presence wot dun it, guv.

Well, there you have it people – straight from the proverbial horse's mouth
Yes Morgan, we revamped the web presence around April this year – including opening this forum up to public view, reskining the wordpress site, and setting up the meet-up group
Clearly this was worth all the effort

One of the most important things with our forum and website is to ensure, as has been done that the forthcoming events - ie All Day Sunday are kept up to date each month. Also, pictures - lots of them help to show that we are doing things and are active. Im glad to say that the chaps are doing this - the proof is in the pudding in that we are getting new bugs through the door, which is marvellous.
Lets keep it up chaps!
New games, new ideas and new terrain keeps people interested!
