Quite a few people yesterday seemed to be keen on playing Warhammer on this weekend's all-day Sunday. Rather than arrange a large multi-player game I'd prefer to try a number of smaller games, perhaps even a 1-day mini tournie. To try and gauge interest, I will propose we play a number of 1500 pts games. If everybody who wants to brings a valid 1500pt list (so, you can test out you Autocrati list if you wish), we'll set up 3 or 4 tables then randomise who plays who in each round. We should easily be able to get two games in each, perhaps three if people can stay later. Simple scoring: most VP scored, with points lost as a tie-breaker. No prize, save the glory Aim to get there before 12:30, for a 13:00 start to the first game. Please let me know, via email, pm or by adding to this thread and I'll save you a place. Confirmed so far: Mark Wightman Barry Warner Terry Warden John Von Carstein Dave Wilkin Steve Wilson [pretty sure he said he'd play on Sunday] Any more?

Well as much I was looking forwards to putting Vlad on the table a few smaller games still sounds great, I will simply have to field his hero level alter ego Emmerich von Dalv On the upside at least 1500 points means I have less to paint!

Can't say I blame you, as he's totally bent. Must be undercosted by 100 pts easy

Rubbish I doubt anyone will take Vlad in a genuinely competitive list, now Mannfred and Konrad on the other hand You can make a caster or combat Vamp Lord that is better than Vlad at that role and save 150 points without even trying, both Mannfred and Konrad are exceptionally good at what they do.

I agree with everything you've said, Manfred and Konrad are even more bent, mostly because they nicely fit one of the two specialist rolls (either combat or magic).
Vlad isn't a specialist which reduces his utility, and yes, I doubt we'll see him in many GT lists, he is however undercosted for the abilities he has. Plus, he also has an 4+ ward save, which other vamps can only get with Stupidity thrown in.
If he had the option to be given a mount he'd be much more useful. ;D

Currently planning the conversion for my Crown wearing Abyssal Terror riding Dread Lance wielding Red Furied Vampire Lord of ye doom.
4 auto-hitting str 7 attacks on the charge, with additional attacks for each one that wounds (then the terror), I truely look forwards to planting that into the front of a unit of Chosen Knights. Trying to find a model that will work for the Terror, most likely going to go with one of the beasties from Hordes, with a fair whack of conversion and give it two Dire Wolf heads.

May I suggest the Witch Kings Fell Beast from LOTR. Cracking model and suitably evil ;D

I'd also like to join in with this on Sunday.
It'll give me a chance to give a table top outting to one of my armies that hasn't seen much play in a while.
