Hi all I would like to try and set up a large game for the December Sunday which I think will be the 14th and I would like to get an idea of interest so that I can gauge numbers. I haven't set upon any period as yet but it would need to be something that several of us are comfortable with or that new players could pick up fairly quickly and also that we have plenty of figures for; so likely to be Fire and Fury; Age of Reason; FOW (but I am open to suggestions). I would intend that we use the whole day but I am sure we could have some players dropping in or out. For a change I would like to try and arrange commanders and subordinates in advance, issues maps and objectives etc. I would like this to be open to all members; and I am open to suggestions on period and themes. I'll be on my honeymoon , not sure Claire would be too keen me putting things off to attend. Shame as sounds like a good idea and a lot of fun.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
I'd prefer Fire & Fury or Flames, as I've become very jaded regarding AoR.
I'd be happy to play something else though.
If it were Fire & Fury, I've some notes regarding a big game I started to put together based on the Gettysburg campaign. I think it was designed for 3 vs 3, with the idea being to fight a series of preliminary battles as 1 v 1 affairs - which then impacted the main event.

Pencil me in.
How about considering Age of Eagles (Napoleonic Fire & Fury) ?

Well hopefully I'll have tried Might and Reason by then and can feed back . I should imagine they'd be a good rule set for a big game.

Fire and Fury, we haven't done that in a while. Here is an Idea, why don't we do one of the big scenarios, like Gettysburg(just Day one or 2, not both, Picketts too small of course!) and asign members as corps commanders, with a couple taking the personas of Meade and Lee. We have enough minis I am sure, as we have played them before (ahh the halcion days in Mark's gaming room! ) Dave

I did consider AoE but I didnt think we would have enough proficient players by then; certainly a future project.
Dave
I like the idea that Mark put forward of using the Gettysburg armies; but I would like to come up with a fictitious battle to give both sides a challenge. I certainly want players to have their own commands; but with an overall CO to come up with the plan and handle reserves etc. But I am happy to look at a refight.

Have we definitely decided on F&F for the December all-dayer, bearing in mind our new foray into 6mm WSS ? We could do a French & Bavarian vs. British and Dutch game. We should have quite a few figures ready by then.

Hi Martyn
I think we have a fair amount of interest in doing Fire and Fury now and we have the figures to accomondate alot of players. What I will do over the next couple of weeks is confirm that interest and see if we can tempt any of the newer members or those that would normally be non-historical gamers to join us. It maybe an idea to try a couple of smaller games before the day for new players to try out the system.
It also be interesting to see if anybody has a preference to the Blue or the Grey? And even if we have any volunteers for senior command?
As regards the WSS; I dont imagine that the British (it sounds like a bit of recruiting is in order to match the French and Bavarians) and Bavarian armies will be ready by then; but you never know.

It may be nice to put some of the new members in to the role of Corps Commander, with the more experienced players as Army commanders, this should be fun! Do we want the Hexes out for this? how big are we going? By the way, I am hankerin' to be a Reb!
Here is an idea... rather than put £100 in the kitty for the curry (which we have already done this year anyway!) why not see if a buffet for that Sunday would go down well? the NE club do catering, now after all! This may be a way for members who do not necessarily go to the curry having an end of year bash too! Dave

I'd also be interested in taking part as I've had my head firmly in Fantasy/Sci-fi land for a while now, so this would be a really nice change of pace.

Thanks Steve; you are very welcome; have you played any F&F before? I will try and set up a couple of small games between now and then.
