Being an avid reader of DC Comics since I basically could read, I'd love to get my hands on some of the characters, preferable paintable minis, but don't really know where to turn to. DC Comics homepage is an easy option, but their models aren't exactly cheap, being made and painted by pros....
I've heard of HeroClix, but don't really know if it's what I'm looking for, seems a bit too "kiddie-style" for my taste. Although you get the figures and stats etc. ready to play. But that's not the primary thing here, I'd like to put the minis in my bookshelf for display.
Another option is to get hold of some generic superhero minis and paint them, but they seem to be pretty hard to get hold of.
The ones that I'm primary looking for are these three:
Batman Green Arrow (preferably with hood instead of that stupid hat...) Deathstroke
I'd be much obliged if someone could point me in the right direction. Sizewise I'm not too fuzzed but would prefer largeish ones to let's say 28mm.

Having scoured the Internet for inspiration I've only found the Superfigs for generic superheroes. Looking at the pics on the site I have to say I find them downright tacky, if it's because of the way they're painted or the casting in themselves I don't know. Have a gander at: www.fourcolorfigs.com/catalog.html and see if you don't agree. I also found a limited number of Superfigs sold through Westwind miniatures, but they seemed a lot nicer, probably due to a better paintjob. Find them at:http://www.thegamersguild.co.uk/presentation/superfigs-west-wind.asp However, the ones I actually were on the lookout for I found on www.eaglemoss.com/dc/figurines.html, saves me the public humiliation to not paint them nicely The Swede.

Was there not a superhero based RPG game once upon a time? I vaguely remember it at the club when we were at the BUSA, not that I do RPG's (usually!). It had captain America, or some such on the cover, ask Brian, he will know. Dave

As far as RPG's go, there's quite a few out there and the one you talk about sounds like Marvel Superheroes to me. But it's the figures I'm after, might get some "testers" for my Christmas pay. ;D Have put off my painting and stuff for far too long, other things taking precedence, like a car... But I think DC Direct Collectibles are a bit out of my league, prizewise. Their 1/6 scale figures go for around £50/ each or more!!! The Swede.

If it was me, I'd be tempted to go for the Heroclix's stuff, but perhaps look at removing the models from the clix bases with a modelling knife and then sticking them onto some standard bases.
Some of the Heroclix stuff isn't that great, but some of the figures are fairly nice.
