As you know, I have been slowly building this game for the last couple of years. I intend to try and get it ready for maybe kelmarsh. However, on doing a little research on line, I noticed the SOA battle day in Bletchly for 2011 is.Saturday 2 April 2011...Kadesh!! Anyone interested in coming with? using WAB2 of course. Dave

I would be tempted but my idea of Kadesh is probably different to yours with each Egyptian Divison having 500 Chariots (at 1:10 = 50 or 1:20 = 25) and 10,000 infantry (at 1:20 = 500 figs).
Looking at Foundary (20% off prices Autumn special at the moment) that would probably come to abouut £500 per division - thats tempting to buy a division?

Yes, Steve the image of kadesh is a mass of swirling charriots,in great number. But I don't think you necessarily have to buy lots and lots. If both Egyptian and Hittite charriot corps are in proportion I think it would work. Here is my idea.
RamasesII and his Guard infantry (1 unit 24 figs) with Amun division. 4 light charriots 1 unit 20 hand to hand fighters 1 20 fig unit Archers 1 20 fig unit Nubian skirmisher archers. All situated in the Royal camp at one end of the table. Moving toward the camp the P'Re division 4 charriots HtoH Fighters, Archers, Axe men, all in line of march. This is hit by the main Hittite Charriot Attack, 2 units of 5 heavy charriots supported by 24 charriot runners and maybe a unit of4 light charriots. As it is in line of march the likelyhood is that this division will be decimated or run off (as happened) any retreating units will try to go towards the royal camp. The charriotry in any case will be re cycled for the later phase in the game, and in reality fled the field (Ramases executed the commanders after the battle!). Next phase is the battle for the royal camp, during which a random element can be put in to see if the Seti Division arrives from the coast (4 charriots, and accompanying inf and ch runners) or if Muwitalish uses his massed infantry from the other side of the orontos river, which shollars still wonder why he did not in the actual battle, as they numbered some 10 000 ( in the game 3 units 28 spear, 1 unit of 20 archers, 1 unit of Royal guard). In any case a further unit of Hittite Charriots are despatched from this Reservre to join the battle for the Royal camp, just as the Ptah division arrives in battle formation, and takes them in the rear (another 4 Charriots, Runners, and 3 units of Inf with Nubian Skirmisher archers) I have most of the stuff for this, will probably need to buy a few more charriot unit packs, but alot of it can be re cycled! in all the idea is to keep the correct ratios, and an image of massed charriot formations without the expense of purchasing hundreds, that probably wouldn't fit on the table anyhow!! Nope lost interest now. You could do the whole battle in DBA (and I suspect someone will on the day) but too small to get me fired up.
