I could do some Force on Force as I am painting up a British Army platoon for Afghanistan scenarios at the minute. I also picked up an Airfix kit for a Westland Apache. As far as I know there aren't Challenger 2s out there yet are there? I think the US and Canadians have their Abrams and Leopard 2s in the field out there though.

Mike
You are correct - the British Army doesn't have MBTs in Afgan. However, they request tank support from the Danes and the Canadians who operate Leo 2 A6. You are also right in that the US Marines operate Abrams in Afgan.
The British Atmy does have the chanllanger based Trojan which is a very powerful engineer vehicle and i belive the huge bridge layer varient is also present.

Your debate has spured me on - somewhere i have some 28mm SAS which i should paint up. I guess that you are using 20mm for this?

I was thinking of using 20mm, yes. Grubby tanks have the Britannia minis range now, and I purchased a load of Brits, and Taliban, together with a couple of Warrior IFV's. The range looked very good at the MK show, with mastiffs, and some Iveco HGV's with containers as used by the logistics corps; would be great for use in a convoy ambush scenario, also nice looking resin compounds. All together great stuff, and I may well be picking up more at Colours in a few weeks.

I just have to base the British Army Rifle Platoon up and they should be done; time to take on the WAH-64/ AH-64 Mk1 kit!

Well I think I am ready for some wargaming Force on Force style! The finished minis: An aerial shot of the platoon and their friendly air cover:A frontal shot of the AH-64 Mk1:Port profile:The Airfix kit had problems with fit, moulding and being a little short of decals for the ordnance. However, one can't grumble much as it was priced quite reasonably at £8.99 on the High Street.

Thanks Dave, especially for putting me on to Elheim miniatures! They were great to paint up, and needed only minimal prep as the castings were very clean. Elheim 20mm/1:72 minis link for anyone interested: elhiemfigures.com/iraq_and_afghan_69.htmlElheim have even got the nod from Ambush Alley Games (AAG), though of course AAG still encourage players to use whatever minis and scale players prefer.

Bad news I am afraid. The missus and I are currently undertaking some major repair and decorate work on the house. We have to finish the living room then strip the dining room ready for our builder to start next week. To that end, and as we didn't get done what we hoped yesterday, despite a late finish, I will have to bow out of todays game. Sorry chaps, but I can't let her carry on on her own. I hope to be down tomorrow night work permitting. Cheers, Dave

No problem Dave, good luck with the DIY, I hope you get it sorted in time!
Maurice, have we still got the minis to make a go of this? I'm happy to turn up for a game even if it's a clash of regulars - a military exercise I guess!
Alternatively we can have a go at a platoon level game using some 28mm sci fi minis (AT-43, 40k, whatever you want to chuck on the table) as we look ahead to the Tomorrow's War rules.
