I have just recieved the newsletter from Stewart mackaness, GCN Clubs co ordinator, and it seems the promised Warlord club pack has now been sorted out and is on offer to GCN member clubs. The question is, what do we want to get. Plack Powder pack, the BP rules, plus either two Napoleonic boxes, or two Pike and Shot boxes. hail Cesar with a box of Romans and a box of Celts, or Operation Squad rules and a box of British and a box of Germans. The Idea would be to keep the rules as a club copy, and either have a competition or raffle to give two lucky members a box of minis each. Votes please!

Hi Dave, I would suggest we go for something that the club hasn't got ie the Hail Caesar or the Operation Squad. Great idea to use the figures as prizes as little point in club having them, unless they fit in with a club game.

Well I voted for hail Cesar, but we will let the vote decide. Also I did say we could boardgame on the next Sunday, but I have arranged an ECW game with Barry (and whoever else wants a game!) we could do the board game thing in Dec? Any of our new members want to try thier hand at historical, please vote too. You never know you could win a box of figures yourself and start playing some great games. Most of which are based on a GW mechanic somewhere...Black powder and Hail Cesar are modified Warmaster, really!

Would it be a good idea to do the prize draw at the Club Curry - just a thought!

Maybe, but not all the club go to the curry, unfortunately. I had thought to do it as a kind of raffle, with all the active membership numbers in a hat or something!

Yes i guess you are right. Also, wouldnt want to lug the figures around etc. Best to do what you suggest - all the 2011/12 members in a hat, and simply draw the winners out.

The Poll has closed. Hail Cesar won by quite a margin. I have Emailed Warlord to claim the pack, and await the delivery. I will notify you all when it has arrived, and then I will put the current active memberships in a hat, and draw 2 members to win a box of celts, and a box of Romans. I will exclude myself from the draw, and with the committees permition, exclude other committee members too. If there is anyone who wishes to exclude themselves as they already have Romans and or celts that would be great too. I would like to think that a member who has not tried this side of Wargaming, but may like to have a go will recieve the miniatures. Cheers, Dave

I have recieved an email from Warlord..the pack is in the post! soon two of you will have a box of ancients each. On Monday many committee members were keen to be in with a chance, so we will revert to all members being eligable to win one of the prizes..huzzzah! ;D

More good news everyone, I now have the box from Warlord. Do we want to do the raffle next week? It would be good to do it when most members are able to attend, in order that the lucky winners can recieve thier prize in person. There was a letter that came with the pack, saying that they would like to discuss more marketing ideas with the club. Here is one..... a painting competition. I propose that I ask Warlord if they have any of the one figure sprues we can have of legionaries and Celts to hold a painting competition. The prize..we purchase a Roman and/or Celt battalia set, they are about £60, and have all you need to make a reasonable size army. This could be held one club meeting perhapse ( I will get some paint!) and some of the less talented painters in the club can see how quick and stunning the speed painting technique is. Thoughts...

I will be making the draw for the Roman and Celt boxes at club tomorrow, ( 7/11/11). Whilst sorting out the numbers I noticed a mistake....probably done when I was away from club a few weeks ago. E mason, and S Whitfield had been issued the same membership number. To rectify this clerical error in the simplest way E Mason has now been given the number 293, I will re issue a new membership card on Monday. The draw slips have peoples names on anyhow, so there will be no doubt as to winners.
Cheers, Dave Wilkin

As promised we had the draw last night, the winners are members 164 and 291, Mike Armstrong, who wins the Romans, and Graeme Baldwin who wins the Celts. Congratulations, lads! I will keep the boxes for you, and bring to club untill you can claim them. Cheers!

The rules are to be kept as a club set .....if they sent us 2 books we may have given them away, but just one....who gets it? and what does the other chap do for rules? I thought this the best solution.
