Mecha RPG Taster
Having had a brief chat with everyone after the Deathwatch RPG session this evening, it looks like people would like to get a feel for Mecha RPG. This could be done in an evening or on an All Day Sunday. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

When?
I am happy to GM a taster session this coming Monday 31 October for anyone who is interested. In addition I'm happy to run a session any other time people are available, including All Day Sundays. Let me know what times are convenient and we can go from there.

Our RPG group's upcoming schedule looks a bit like this, if I'm right:
Mon 31 October
Mon 7 November - Deathwatch session
Sun 13 November
Mon 21 November - Deathwatch session
Mon 28 November

What?
The session will be a straightforward prequel to the main campaign. You'll be able to pick from a whole host of player character archetypes or create your own if you prefer. Mecha RPG is rules-light, so it doesn't take long.

The system uses d6, so bring a few of these along. I'll have some handy player record sheets to hand out.

More about the campaign setting in a nutshell
Firefly meets Dead Space, with Mecha in the style of Armored Core/Front Mission. (The mecha can be any style you want though, but the default ones I came up with are mostly of this sort. Again, easy to create so go for it if you fancy making your own up.)

Looks like this is on the back burner as far as Oct 31 is concerned , so I have made plans for a game of Force on Force/ Tomorrow's War for that evening instead.

A few people have shown interest in getting together this All Day Sunday 13 Nov '11 to do some character generation. From 12:00pm onwards I shall be at the club with the Mecha RPG rulebook, the setting materials I've prepared, and the necessary player sheets. Anyone who's interested is welcome to have a look. An episode of the game is planned for Monday 21 Nov '11.

I couldn't make this unfortunately. I still want to play however, so I'll need to create a character either on the 14th if you are going to around that night Mike. Otherwise it'll have to be done before the game starts on the 21st.

Mike and maurice...not long got back from work and am totally knackered, and as an early start tomorrow, I will have to give it a miss, sorry guys, but I was falling asleep at the wheel up the M1 !
I am also on a stay away job next week so won't be at club then.

John, I'll happily put a character together. If I do one for each class of mecha then you should be able to pick one you like.

Just so we've got all the typical Mecha/Anime stereotypes covered. John's character really needs to be a 13 year old girl whose parents were killed by the main bad guy and is now out for revenge.

I'm glad you enjoyed it John. I know you mentioned you might be busy going forward, but you are welcome to join in anytime you'd like to.

Thanks to everyone for helping out with the session. There will be Advancement Points coming everyone's way at the start of the next session - as well as something extra!

There was interest in carrying on with a campaign on a fortnightly basis. That makes the next session 5 December 2011 provided this date works for everyone.

Sadly distance does mean I don't want to commit to another ongoing campaign/series at the moment.

For various reasons, there wasn't a session played on 5 Dec. Should we embark on the rest of the campaign, the players will have some interesting choices before them.

I will play it by ear, and plan sessions based on interest. I'll run the sessions if there are at least three players interested. The next date for a session would be 19 Dec meeting on a fortnightly basis as usual. So far Maurice and Zac have expressed interest in meeting up for a session on 19 Dec.

As an update to my previous post, what with the festive season upon us and all kinds of other things going on, I shall be keeping the Mecha RPG on hiatus until further notice. Thanks for playing guys and hopefully we can get together for some more RPG action at some point.
