Hi all,
Assuming the next all day sunday is on the 13th November I am looking for a 40k apocalypse game.
I have my new imperial guard on the way to being built, finally. I think 6K would be a good number to ensure we get as much of a game in as possible.

I'm sorry to say I've already agreed to an Apoc game that day. Seems you're getting your guard sorted fairly quickly, I hope you find an opponent.

There is indeed an all day meet on the 13th, please be aware there will also be a big ECW game, so make allowances when setting up to allow both games room! Cheers, Dave

I will have a 3k force, that me and elle are playing. If you want to make a 3k force yourself, and we finish fast enough (this game is experimental, to see how fast we can play) - I have no problems giving your tau a go. I'm also really trying to get my teeth in to some decent apoc games, but i am a bit slow with tictacs, and movement. I've already figured out from many previous games that I do not know the rules perfectly. And i get a little heated on debates, but with practice, I get a little better. I don't mind games outside of gladiators, as theyre only once a month, and I'd really like more of them. At the moment, I'm trying to push (shove down the stairs?) elle into giving me a big game, but the ever changing rules have mutated to a point where her 4 armies are not capable of sustaining large apoc games. d**n shame, her imperial used to hit 9k. Possibly higher with tweaks. I'm looking in to having (at my flat, or some rented place in putnoe, like the social thingy on church lane?) a massive game, maybe 10k or more.
But this game with elle is important, to work on speed, and efficiency. It wont be perfect, as the thngs that slow me down wont be present. The grand court of the high king (70+ models), and seer council (10+ psykers, each with 2+ psychic powers) are the biggies. And munch about 3k by themself!
Anyways, just to let people know my feelings on apoc, if the game goes ultra fast, I will have 3k, maybe 4k to kick about for anther game, and hopefully give a little insight into further games. There was a little mention with one of the guys, that gladiators could take into consideration huge games, and possibly have a further "all-day" session - but that is something that was only mentioned. I would certainly pay my fair share for the extra all-day. I'd have to pay for cab there/ back (£10), so i would not hesitate to put the same toward a real game effort. But no running before I can walk, lets get the first 3k game out of the way. I need to work on my reaction speed, movement speed, and tictacs. Liz is my walking dictionary in any game we play. She plays herself down alot, but I think she's awesome - nothing short of a photographic memory when it comes to rules - wont just tell you the book, but the page and paragraph! If i had that skill, I'd be working for nasa. And use the cash to buy a bigger army, instead of a big house and a car. *giggles*

for future contemplation. If you would like an Apoc game Vs Rushden, I am sure this can be arranged......plus with arrangement with the NE club, and if players are OK with it, you can leave it set up over Sunday night and finish on Monday...you will need to pack up on the Mon Night of course! If members are up for it may be next summer I am sure we can organise a weekend gaming sesh, as a one off (as it is expensive to hire on Saturdays!) but we have on occasion done this before, and organised finger buffet too! Dave ;D

Some interesting ideas Dave, we'll see how this Sunday goes but I'd say there are enough people interested in such stuff. Only trouble I see is so many people wanting to field 6,000+ armies each'll make it hard to fit everyone into a game that can be finished in sensible time.

mm... I find when there are are multiple players, the difficulty comes with getting everyone to work together for tictacs, and finishing turns correctly. For insatance, if I was to use a 7k army, my grand court of the young king, and seer council would take so d**n long to move, and the psychic phase so elaborate, that I can imagine everyone else getting a bit peeved having to wait for me. Liz and i are unfamilliar, and don't quite enjoy the term "deathstar unit", even though we have seen it used in many other places. It puts too much emphasis on the unit, and gets more attention than it deserves. I am willing to have a multiple player game, if liz agrees, but for the moment, until she says otherwise, we are possibly having a 4k apoc game, using infantry to see how much more time it takes. My previous mechanised army was so fast we got two games in, fairly easily (2 and half hours for a 3k game!) Hopefully we'll be having this infantry based game on the eleventh of december. If we are able to have a game or two before then, and test a few theories, then we may (depending on liz, of course), be able to have a multiple player game, two sides only. I play Eldar, Liz has several armies - but who would be interested in such a game? Theoretically, and if everything goes as smoothly, and the two of us agree to the game. I've read the rule book, although my memory is not brilliant, and I have a copy of the FAQ's, updates, and formation rules. Plus liz is a walking library.
