i would like to challenge people to a duel. its a bit of fun basicly bring a 40k character and its a knock out duel to the death rules are below.
For those that are new, the idea (simply for fun) is to have a see at which characters in warhammer 40,000 are true champions of combat.
Rules * Vehicle characters and Apoc-specific Greater Daemons are not allowed to enter but any other special character can regardless of points. * The Arena will be 24" square with as much terrain as wel can fill (using mostly small terrain to allow movement between) characters starting in opposite corners, preferably out of sight of each other. * No characters or HQ's may be T7+ * It will be a Knockout tournament, with pairings randomised at the start. * In the case of a draw, both are out. * Odd rounds will not grant an automatic pass, but we'll do a bonus multiway round between previous losers (one chosen by each player) allowing one to re-enter filling a space. * Wounds and limited use abilities are refreshed each fight. * People always control their own model, except if they were to fight another of their own in which case he picks one and the others vote who to control the other. * Pick one model as your main character to enter the chamionship, then pick a second and third, if there is space we will enter someones second choice. (picked randomly) and then third choice if there is space. * First come first serve with charcaters, please name your first choice character on here and no one else may chose that charcater. But second and third choices are optional and if someone wants to take it as there main choice then you will have to pick another second/third. * Any HQ's are alowed to enter following the rules above if you do not own any characters or wish to place them as your second/third
Last championship was won by Mephiston immortal characters like Saint Celestine & Justicar Thawn are unfortunately disallowed for obvious reason" If we can get at least 1-2 from each army it'll be great.
i thought it woud be a nice idea just to have a little bit of fun between people at the club. What do you think?

Sounds like fun! My chosen champs:
1. Asdrubael Vect 2. A generic Hive Tyrant 3. (His chances are slim-to-none, but he's a lovely model) Commissar Sebastian Yarrik

I would like to see how Jain zar fare's in battle.
1) Has to be Yriel. 2) Jain zar (Although not yet assembled/ painted) 3) Maugen Ra (I remember him getting second place)
Wtf? No eldrad??? Well.... when you got a choice of 8 characters, it does tend to get difficult to choose ^^

Bump!
Nobody else interested in this? Looks like it could be a lot of fun, but we could probably use some more contenders. I note that Mephiston, the Swarmlord, Ghasgul, Abaddon and even Aun-va (!) are still up for grabs.
Come on chaps!

Next Monday I think (the 16th).
Running the numbers in my head a bit, I think Gazghul may struggle from his low I and inv. save. Abaddon should be a house though!
That said, the smart money is probably on Kaldor 'Ivan' Draigo.
We should make a book on this and set a few odds. Just for fun of course!

I promised I'd join tho have little chance beyond that. Will use Urien Rakarth, if other entrees are needed I'll see what I can find.
I've a friend who may come, bringing Ghazkull if Dave3 isn't putting him forward as his first entree.

Cool, see you tonight with Vect and my tyrant ready to rumble.
I see no-one else has 'bagsied' the Swarmlord, so I'm happy to use my tyrant model to represent him if that's more in keeping with the aim this game (i.e. named SCs, rather than generic HQs).
If nothing else, this arena has given me the impetus to get my Archon model painted, so thanks for that!

results again, in case the link vanishes. Edited to remove the stuff we all know (rules etc)
Eight men enter - only one leaves!
Somewhere in the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, lights rise on a secluded arena to reveal eight gladiators, all looking to claim the title of Galaxy's Ultimate Combatant.
The Phoenix Lords Asurmen and Maugan-Ra Grey Knight master Kaldor 'Ivan' Draigo Scions of the Dark City Asdrubael Vect and Urien Rakarth Blood Angels' Commander Dante Ork warlord Ghazgul Thraka and a towering Hive Tyrant of fleet Behemoth
Round 1
A decrepit cogitator suspended above the arena by a web of ferrous chains flickers to life and displays the order for the first rounds of combat.
Commander Dante, resplendent in his golden artificer plate, will face the overlord of Commoragh, Asdrubael Vect.
Dante ignites his jump pack and fearlessly flies to within feet of the Dark Eldar tyrant. A single blast of microwave energy from his inferno pistol pierces Vect's shadowfield and utterly incinerates him. Victory to the Blood Angel!
The undescribably horrific Tyranid tyrant is to fight Ghasgul in a heavyweight clash.
Striking first, the Tyrant unleashes a fusillade of brainleach worms from its pair of devourer symbiotes. These scatter harmlessly from Ghasgull’s mega-armour, and the beast of Armageddon laughs in defiance, readying his power claws and preparing to unleash the power of the Waagh. Sensing the impending danger, the tyrant taps into the power of the hive mind and forces a paroxysm upon Thraka. The temporarily enfeebled Ork calls upon the Waagh to ensure he makes it into combat with the Tyrant, but finds himself entangled by its writhing, sentient lash.
The Tyrant rains down blows upon Ghasgul with his bonesword, but the Waagh powers energising the Ork’s body mean few wounds are caused. The Warlord is in turn overcome by the paroxysm and cannot land any telling strikes. This state of affairs continues for a short time, but the Waagh cannot last forever and as its energies abate, the Tyranid’s bonesword makes a mockery of the crude plates protecting Ghasgul and he is slain.
Kaldor Draigo will test his mettle against Asurmen, the Sword of Asuran.
Asurmen’s quicksilver speed and consummate skill avail him naught against the unstoppable juggernaut presented by Draigo in his blessed Terminator plate and shield. A bladestorm volley scatters harmlessly from the Grey Knight and a flurry of sword blows lack the strength to cause serious harm to the champion of Titan. In response, Kaldor unleashes heavy blow after heavy blow with his oversized blade, crushing the life from the fragile Eldar.
Bitter kin-strife will erupt between Maugan-Ra and his depraved cousin Urien Rakarth.
Rakarth takes several strong hits from Maugan-Ra’s shrieker cannon as he crosses the battlefield, but his unnatural constitution kicks in as his wounds knit together and redundant organs take up the strain of those damaged by shuriken fire. Closing with the Phoenix Lord, he produces an arcane casket of flensing from within his robes and unleashes it at his opponent. The variable power of this device lets the haemonculous down however and Maugan-Ra is unscathed.
A long and eerie combat follows as Rakarth’s clone field and uncanny regenerative powers allow him to survive a score of wounds from his opponent’s scythe. His pain glove is repeatedly defeated by the Phoenix Lord’s armour, however, and eventually the clone field fails to generate enough phantasms to protect Rakarth from Maugan-Ra and the Craftworld Eldar is able to utterly dismember his opponent.
Round 2
Dante must face another Eldar – the Phoenix Lord Maugan-Ra
Using cover and his jump pack to avoid Ra’s shooting, Dante closes the gap and again unleashes a blast from his inferno pistol. Maugan-Ra is made of sterner stuff than Asdrubael Vect, however, and is merely wounded by the stream of super-heat. Ra was already weakened by the sapping effects of the Death Mask of Sanguinius , however, and was now easy prey to Dante’s power axe, against which his armour provided scant protection. Another quick and easy scalp for the Adeptus Astartes.
Kaldor Draigo is drawn against the Hive Tyrant
An early shower of Brainleach worms find a chink in Draigo’s armour and wound the Knight. In response he charges the Tyranid under cover of a scatter of psk-out grenades which momentarily sever the Tyrant’s connection to the hive mind, temporarily stunning the beast. The lashwhip retains its senses independent of its wielder, however and tangles Draigo’s sword-arm long enough for the Tyrant to recover and strike simultaneously. The psychic wards etched into the Titansword cause further synaptic damage to the Tyrant who is left perilously close to death, but a combination of bonesword blows and the spray of acidic blood from the Tyranid’s wounds place Draigo equally at risk. Knowing that the Tyrant will strike the next blows if the combat were to continue, and unsure if he could weather another onslaught, Draigo attempts to channel the power of the warp through his Nemesis blade and finish the beast.
As soon as he opens his mind to the empyraean however, Kaldor is overcome by the chittering, screeching horror of the hive mind that radiates from his opponent and his psyche is overcome by the utterly alien forces. Thin trickles of brain matter leak from the Grey Knight’s ears, nose and eyes as he slumps to one side, slain.
The final
Dante’s armour is proof against the Tyrant’s devourers, while the creature’s chitin provides no defense against his melta weapon. Coupled with the enervating mask worn by the Angel of Death, the Tyrant is already half dead before any blows have been struck. Seeking to quickly end this combat as he had in previous rounds, Dante charges the Tyranid.
Sadly for the Commander, however, he causes no wounds with his power axe, while the Tyrant slices three deep gashes into the body of the Space Marine. Dante knows no fear, but reasons that withdrawing from the clutches of the Tyrant may present his best chance of ultimate victory and attempts to flee the combat. The Tyranid’s large size belies its rapid reactions however and it catches the Marine, striking blows at his undefended back and felling him.
The Hive Tyrant is the victor!
