Not yet for 4th ed as far as i know but there was for 3.5. also in the order of the stick online comic there's a running joke that you have to make a witty one liner before you strike with your rapier to do more damage as a swashbuckler

Hi all, yesterday's meet-up to roll characters was an eye-opener. I took a close look at the Paladin and Warlock classes and character building with the benefit of the veteran players which helped a lot - thanks!
As mentioned last night I've generated a cleric class character and have to say the class is just what I was looking for class-wise. I'm aware Stephen is having a think about the cleric class as well so at the risk of stepping on his toes may I say cleric would be my preferred character class.
Build-wise I have opted for a ranged healer with debuff/buff support for the party and some decent ranged damage as well! I am really looking forward to getting stuck in to the campaign now, I must say.

Ok. I got the impression last night you were running a Warlock, which was why I suggested me changing characters in the first place to give the party a leader.
As it happens after I got home last night I worked out a secondary character to fit into the leader role. A Dragonbord Warlord. But I'm happy to go back to my original Eladrin Wizard character if you're going to play a Cleric.

Sorry if I gave you the runabout there Stephen, I'm afraid it's been a bit of an information overload with all the options. I seem to have gotten there in the end though. Thanks for being accommodating about my newbie class-hopping!
So, with your cooperation, for us it's a case of "as we were", except that I'll be running a cleric not a paladin.

Righty ho ;D so if I've got this straight this is what we've got: (do correct me if I'm wrong)
Stephen - Eladrin Wizard - Controller Mike - Cleric- Leader (let me know what race) Damon - Half Elf Paladin (Raven Queen) - Defender Maurice - Tiefling Rogue - Striker John - Elf Avenger - Striker
That looks like a pretty good mix to me - good mix of roles and likely skills - but there still a week and a half for any changes if you'd like.
I take it from your last post John that your vowing not to use "shift" as a combat action for the entire game? Sounds good to me....

The cleric is a dwarf from a rural area with a rocky coastline where earning a living generally revolves around mining and smuggling contraband. He has made his way to Abelard to better serve the sea deity, Melora. I guess she looks something like this (only joking Chris!):

Well, Avenger, lesser god or not if you get injured this agent shall be there to ameliorate your condition! Don't worry the heals will be better than the puns!

Just a quick note to say thank you all for playing this evening. If anyone has any questions or anything they'd like changing then just let me know here or PM me.
I'll add a summary of the session up here in due course but here's a quick summary of tonight to keep you going:
Will had a bad evening. Gant and Smiler will most likely wake up frozen and battered in a trash heap. Otik is not happy. ;D
See you on Monday 16th April
Many thanks Chris

Hi Guys,
I've been away from the club for a good while but I'm very interested in playing a 4th ed game near the start (I'm reaching the end of a 3 1/2 year game - lvl 29 and it's going all kinds of icky death at the moment).
Do you have any spaces at all? Happy to play any class/race combo you need to fill any gaps?
Cheers
-Stu-

Hi Stu
Normally always happy for anyone to join in but I'm afraid 5 players is the max I'd like to DM for at the moment as I'm still finding my way with it all. If anyone drops out or can't make it I'll let you know!
Having said that I'm only planning to run this particular game for another two or three sessions but I know some of the players may be interested in carrying on (potentially with a new DM) or starting a new DnD story after this so it may well open up for new players. We'll keep you posted!
Chris
