Typing this on the train so apologies if it's a bit rough and ready! Will tidy later:
At 1pm on Sunday 14th July ( assuming this is the next all day Sunday) I plan to run another pathfinder role playing module.
This is a Pathfinder Society module. The society is an in game organisation of adventurers and explorers devoted to investigating sites of historical interest and recovering artifacts. Clearly, given the nature of that task, pathfinders also need to be capable of looking after themselves!
Out of the game, the Pathfinder Society is also a worldwide organised play campaign which means you can take your character sheet to any pathfinder society game (eg at a convention or another club or home game ) and play modules there too. The modules themselves are many and varied in terms of genre and plot.
Here are a few details about the mission in this case:
Mists of Mwangi
In the great city of Absalom, home of the Pathfinder Society, stands the looming Blakros Museum in a old imposing building originally built for another purpose. The Society has assigned you and some other agents to investigate a strange mist which started emanating from inside about an hour ago.
From the scant information you have, you know that a missing pathfinder turned up at the museum a few days ago looking haggard and gaunt, sold them some artifacts from his recent trip to the Mwangi jungle expanse and then disappeared with the money. Your mission is to enter the museum, find out what's going on and put a stop to it!
The module needs 4 to 6 players. So far I have two players: Di would like to play and Zak has expressed an interest.
You can use a level one pre generated character, or you can join the society itself and create your own level one.
Website for the society is here: paizo.com/pathfinderSociety
Details of how it works are found in this free (if you register for free) document here: paizo.com/products/btpy84k4
Pathfinder rules including character gen are available for free in the online reference document here: paizo.com/prd/
Or for $10 you can download the comprehensive and very pretty core rulebook (equivalent of phb and dmg) here: paizo.com/products/btpy88yj
Those of you who played in the 'we be goblins' game last time will have a chronicle sheet and character number. If you use that to register, you'll have a lot more money to spend on kit and will already be on your way to level 2 ( plus you will also have a bonus whenever dealing with goblins!)
I plan to be down on monday to play board games and will have books etc with me
Lastly a few reasons why I've enjoyed playing pathfinder society games so far:
Variety - I can have various characters on the go and choose one depending on how I feel. Plus the modules can be very different and interesting
Challenge - you never know what the balance of the party will be so you need to build a few options into your character but still shine in some specific things
DMing involves little commitment, gains you credit for your own character, and can easily be passed on to someone else for the next module.
Let me know if you're interested.
