Summer 1943 on the Russian Front was a turning point. The Soviets had triumphed at Stalingrad destroying the huge German 6th Army. Hungarian, Italian and Rumanian formations had also perished in the cauldron.
The Germans had stabilised the situation through holding actions conducted by Field Marshall Manstein.
Germany now prepared for the titanic Kursk battle.
On Monday we move to one of the lesser areas of the Eastern Front where a large Soviet force has smashed through the line.
Can the hastily thrown together German force stop the on-rush of T34's and KV's?
We shall see on Monday!
A combat debut for a new terrain peice as well!

Victory! Oh victory!!! Banzai!!!
A very interesting game - The Soviets attacked, with Kevin in charge of the 4 KV Heavy tanks making a push on the right. Peter went left with the 10 T34s. Matt and Steven defended the twon with trepidation - could they stop the steel avalanche? The Germans defended with the a platoon of infantry in APC's, 3 Marder Tank destroyers, a PAK40 Antitank gun, 2 Nashorn Tank destroyers and 2 PanzerIvs with a Stug as reserve. Plus 2 morters which tended to miss lots of sovioet infantry that were clinging to the T34's. So, the Nashorns did good work but the strong KVs pushed onto the church the KV8 flamethrower setting the church on fire. The Marders crashed into action and stopped them. On the other side one of the Nashorns died having destroyed a couple of Soviets.
It was a hardfort game which was most enjoyable but the Gwermans just about managed to stop the Soviets.
Next week we take to the high seas and its time to get the pre-Dreadnoughts out! Japana V Russia - 1904!
Banzai!
