Hi All
Bought the core box set of WFRP (3rd ed) back at the UK Expo last year - a 2nd hand copy at half price. It has since sat doing nothing and I thought it was time to give it a try!
Whats the story?
Plan to run the adventure in the back of the book - An Eye for an Eye.
The following notice has appeared in the Empire town of Ubersreik and its neighbouring settlements:
Looking for Work?
Resourceful and intrepid fellows required to assist in house move. Job involves discretion, danger and some heavy lifting. Only honest applicants will be considered. No layabouts.
Hired candidates will earn 6 silver schillings a day for their labour, plus any expenses incurred.
Interested?
Ask for Herr Hendrick at The Red Moon Inn in Uversreik. Don't delay - seek Herr Hendrick today!
What's is this system?
WFRP 3rd ed is Fantasy Flight's re design of the classic system set in GW's Warhammer world. It seems to have garnered a kind of marmite response from lots of gamers who either seem to love or hate its extensive use of cards and components and its custom dice system.
In actual fact the main mechanic seems to be an earlier version of the dice system used in Star Wars Edge of Empire (which I love) and the reliance on components is mainly the fact that most of the character stats, powers, options etc are listed on cards so that the players can have all the rules in front of them rather than having to look up stuff in books all the time.
I think it looks really interesting and worth a go for at least a short game if you are up for trying something different?
When?
Should take 3 sessions at the most (best guess). First session planned for Mon 7th April and then fortnightly thereafter. Character generation at the beginning of the first night (looks quite straightforward - especially if we use the recommended 'deal 3 careers to a player and they choose one method' - in itself quite interesting as the careers aren't your normal D & D classes.
Who?
Looking for exactly 3 players. This is due to the limited game components in the box, the fact that it is a new system for me and the fact that the adventure is already scaled for 3. Given this low number of players and after a few people missing out on the Star Wars game, I thought we might try a different sign up method for fairness (if needed). Sign up below if you are interested and then on the 24th March, if there are more than 3 people signed up, we'll pick names out of a hat.
I think others at the club may well have tried this game way back when it first came out? I vaguely remember people playing it when I first came down to the club on my first night back in 2008ish? If I'm right, some people might already have played this adventure? If so, did you like the system?
Let me know if you are interested. All members welcome regardless of whether they have played an rpg before
