Hello All
As previously discussed, I'll be running a nostalgic game of 1st Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons on the Saturday of our 40th anniversary weekend.
First published in a series of three books between 1977 and 1979, 1st edition AD&D was an evolution of the original white box set of D&D published in 1974. It was the first edition to allow players to pick a race and a class (previously if you were, for example, a Dwarf, this was effectively your class as well).
What: I'll be running a published module from 1982 entitled "Against the Cult of the Reptile God" and I'll be running it using the rules as written as much as possible (only deviating where things are unclear or really no fun for anyone!).
When: 11th October 2014, Saturday, starting when the hall is available (do we know times?). The module is not super long nor short. I would estimate it will take us most of Saturday at a leisurely fun pace.
Who: So far I believe I have the following people as players (let me know below if I'm wrong!). There's space for up to 6 players at the table. All welcome regardless of previous experience with roleplay games. Let me know if you would like to join us.

The Story:
One night, in the large town of Hochoch, certain adventurers drift off to sleep in various places across the town. Each adventurer sees a set of images and sounds in their dreams. A lady shining with divine light standing amongst fields of golden wheat. A small village is visible in the background. Long thin clouds appear and block out the sun. The words "Merikka" and "Orlane" resonate around the dreamers' minds followed by a sinister hissing sound. The lady raises her arms and divine light slows the encroaching shadows, but the shadows continue to enclose until the light is almost extinguished. The scene fades. An image of the town square at Hochoch appears. The town clock strikes midnight, and the dreamer sees themself meeting others, a strong divine voice says "Will you answer? will you help?"
The adventurers awake, each to find a vial of holy water has appeared near to them. The time is approaching midnight.
The characters: Characters must be of non-evil alignment and will start the game with 2600xp (which for most classes will be level 2).
I plan to be down at the club with the books for tomorrow's all day sunday should anyone want to do some character generation.
