The third of Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars RPGs (Force & Destiny) is due out late next month. As I missed out on Edge of Empire I thought I'd get in nice and early this time ! So, if anyone is thinking of running a game of F&D (Chris ?) please sign me up now. Martyn

Funny you should say that Martyn - I was looking at my bookshelf the other day and thinking it would be good to play another Star Wars rpg game. I do like that system!
I could be convinced to run another one but not perhaps until late August as I am up to my eyes in GMing commitments till then. I'm happy to play in a game starting as soon as anyone wants to run one!
I already have the books etc for edge of empire and also age of rebellion. I dare say I'll be picking up force and destiny.
I think my personal preference would be another edge of empire game and I'm also conscious that many at the club already have this book so it's less expenditure for all.
What are other people's preference out of the three ?
Short version : happy to run a short campaign from late August but also happy to be a player in a game (on non pathfinder nights) as soon as someone wants to start one!
Also happy to run one of the starter set adventures (2 sessions worth of game using pre gens) as soon as anyone would like if there's interest. They take v little prep.

Is it a totally different game then? I'm loathe to spend cash on another rulebook that'll get minimal use.
What's likely to be different? Dice, character stats etc?
Cheers,
D

Hi Damon
Rules are mostly identical. Uses the same dice.
The stories you tell are the key difference. Edge of empire is scum and villainy on the edge of space. Age of rebellion is military missions for the rebel alliance. Force and destiny is force users/ Jedi hiding from the empire and trying to train, learn and help people.
Character options are very different with different career choices and powers. New races are available etc
The key difference is that each game has a different mechanic to hook players into the plot. Edge of empire had obligation where characters owed something to somebody or something. In age of rebellion this is duty and works slightly differently. Not sure what the mechanic is in force and destiny.
So same wider game. Same rules. You can use stuff from each but each is designed for a different type of story. it's easier to run the game though using mainly one of the books id imagine.

Chris
I am happy to play Edge of Empire and am happy to wait till late August. Also happy to play Force and Destiny instead as I have the first and will be picking up the latter...just want to get in early this time !
By the way, I haven't retreated back into obscurity but am playing Chain of Command at the Rushden Club so won't be back in until Monday week.

Just to say that I'm still interested in doing this but will postpone until the new year to allow for the end of the Pathfinder game and the Frostgrave campaign
