I'll just also remind people that we have just over 4,000 GP still in the kitty at present. 2,000 GP of that is reserved for Dean, who was I think trying to decide between getting his crossbow enchanted and an amulet of natural armour.
So if anyone else has a desired purchase of 2,000 or less they want we've still got funds to cover it.

Alas - I'm at a family funeral on Monday and so won't be able to make it down to the club that night.
Apologies to all. Happy for someone to run Freya in my absence if that's easier (stats are earlier in this thread but now ac20 and has a +1 great sword).
Just remember she is inclined to do things exactly by the book at the moment until her Captain asks/orders/begs her to stop...

Hi everyone, My car has decided to fall ill. It is currently in a coma and at the 'doctors'. I just hope they can resuscitate it but I won't know until tomorrow unfortunately (apparently I lost the suspensions?? Sounds bad). Sorry Mike, everyone, I won't be there tonight. Elena

Hello all,
I have a small confession to make. When I posted the above list of loot, I completely forgot about the contents of the cart. So...
The cart
A locked wooden chest – the key is in Lareth's pocket
The chest contains accounts and ledgers which clearly indicate the extent of Lareth's slave smuggling operation.
It also holds 17 bearer bonds in the amount of 500gp each drawn on the Laekastel Central Bank in Cheliax.
Note: Bearer bonds of this nature are common enough throughout the Inner Sea region but they are not, in the strictest sense of the word, paper money as they are not legal tender. In theory, they can be redeemed only at the bank that issued them. Nonetheless they are usually considered acceptable payment within the city of origin.
Sorry guys, if you want the gold you need to go to Laekastel to claim it.
Also there are 19 hessian bags each containing 100gp in actual gold coins.

Yep! Mike's game is on as usual Glad the op went well Just to confirm – yes we are on for this evening. Just a couple of points: Firstly, I am aware that I haven't given out any XP for a few weeks. Don't worry I am keeping track of it and, in accordance with my normal practice, I will post this up when you get back to Peaksdell. Secondly, Mike (the other one) well be joining the game this evening. All we need to do is rationalise how his character get there, which shouldn't be too hard given the character background he has sent me. See you all later Mike

PC background: Kelisa Barrett, Witch Lv5Some background for my character just so it's in the thread for reference. AppearanceWhite hair, purple-black eyes. Kelisa’s hair is cut in a short boyish manner. She is of medium build, about 5ft 8in. Kelisa is dressed in loose dark purple leather coat with a matching purple waistcoat and leggings both with brass fittings and a white blouse underneath made by her mother. Kelisa wears purple leather boots and gloves and carries a leather backpack (all made by her brother) and a small dagger at her belt. She has a few easily accessible open mouthed pouches about her person with the tools of her trade tucked inside. In unguarded moments Kelisa’s witch familiar, a purple-black scorpion named Puella can be seen crawling about her person, in and out of pockets and pouches, going about its business. Background: the short versionKelisa's father, a failed merchant drags his family out of Peaksdell town to a remote sheep farm to rebuild his fortune. The family gets abducted along with several other families in a sequence of raids by a brutal plague coven of witches. The witches are partial to sacrificial plague rituals but also have a sideline in slave trading with hobgoblins from neighbouring Isger and the Arthfell forest. The family is rescued by contracted investigators (a rogue and a witch, both Halflings) and Kelisa decides to apprentice herself to them with her family's approval. As a journeyman investigator she is now seeking practical experience and a case to impress her instructors with; so that she can earn her place as a fully fledged investigator. Background: 600 wordsThe only thing I could think of to compress and hide the text was using the spoiler tag. Kelisa’s father Dynstan Barrett, a local Peaksdell merchant fallen on hard times bought an abandoned sheep farm on the periphery of the Peaksdell area hoping to make his fortune in wool production and moved out into the rural wilderness. Dynstan’s family went with him: Bela, his wife and their two children Kelisa and her younger brother Faris aged 5 years and 2 years respectively.
Dynstan began scratching a living from the rugged surroundings, periodically returning to the town to trade wool and gradually improving the farm. Kelisa’s mother Bela took the childrens’ education in hand teaching them to read, write and do their numbers.
When Kelisa was about 16 years old she and her family were abducted from their farmstead by a raiding party. They were one of several homesteader families taken captive by a reclusive coven of witches and held deep within caves in the mountains, the pitch dark interiors lit by flaming braziers and the eerie light of plague rituals. Over the days that followed the coven began to butcher the captives one by one in ghoulish rituals or trade them to visiting hobgoblin slavers while their families looked on from their cages.
Kelisa and her brother watched in growing horror as the survivors in each cage gradually lessened in number. Their parents Dynstan and Bela, sure they would be dragged from the cages soon, tried to calm their children and keep their captors’ attention on themselves.
Kelisa abandoned her prayers for divine help and whispered desperate pleas for any kind of help, earthly or otherwise. Cowering in the dark, she began to imagine eerie whispers echoing in her mind, promising anything in return for the power to save herself and others. Just as Kelisa was about to collapse in despair at her failing sanity a scorpion appeared at her feet; Kelisa held herself still. The scorpion began to dance slowly from side to side and wave its claws; with every gesture of its diminutive limbs Kelisa felt a new knowledge take hold and unfold in her mind, showing her how to use powers it unlocked to fight her way free.
Kelisa’s desperation and fear drove her as she leashed nearby cultists to her will long enough to free the remaining captives before channeling different powers to weaken and cut down her captors. The arrival of the coven would have meant a swift end to Kelisa’s efforts but luckily she was not alone for long.
Contracted investigators Lem Stanva and his business partner, a witch by the name of Filia Rogan burst from the shadows to help Kelisa. Together they fought their way out of the warren of tunnels, the surviving captives in tow with scavenged and improvised weapons, Kelisa healing her allies and wasting her pursuers.
Miltary and militia troops from Peaksdell and a detachment from the local garrison came to the rescue of the embattled escapees at the exit to the tunnels and marched on to burn the cabal out of their mountain. It had taken two weeks for Lem and Stanva to track the disappeared families to the coven’s cave. It was time to collect their fee from Peaksdell town’s wool merchants, who had hired them to look into the haphazard pattern of deserted homesteads and disappearing sheep farmers.
Dynstan, Bela and Faris returned to the family homestead but with her parents’ approval Kelisa joined Lem and Filia as an apprentice investigator. Kelisa has completed the first phase of her training and is now a journeyman ready to build some practical experience on her own. She has been using her skills in alchemy, witchcraft and investigation to resolve small local matters, like providing healing and potions to those who need them for an affordable price, recovering stolen sheep and abducted locals, battling gnolls, highwaymen and the odd hobgoblin. While content to be making a difference to the local community, Kelisa is hoping she will have a more challenging case to impress Lem and Filia with soon. Alignment and Personality TraitsKelissa's alignment is Chaotic Good. Personality traits Freelance - fights her own fight against oppressive or unfair practices as she perceives them. As a freelance investigator she believes in being the change she wants to see in any given situation rather than relying on the authorities to sort things out by themselves. Flexible – will break the rules to get the job done – villains or those obstructing justice get limited consideration or fair treatment Sense of obligation - Kelissa wants to help give something back by doing investigative work like Lem and Filia and defending those who can't defend themselves FamilyFather: Dynstan Barrett aged 46 years is a sheep farmer and failed merchant on the rise again in his new agricultural career. He seems more at peace now that the farm is doing well and his children are finding their feet. His hobbies are riding, wood carving and reading. Mother: Bela Barrett aged 40 years is a home maker, and taught her children to read, write and do their sums. Bela is from an old Peaksdell merchant family who rather think she sold herself short by marrying Dynstan. She is now looking into starting a dyeing business and try her hand at the wool trade. Her hobbies are cooking, riding, tailoring clothes (she buys the most recent patterns she can find from Peaksdell) and reading. Younger brother: Faris, aged 18 years is a young farmer but sees his future in the family business which is doing well in a respectable sort of way for a homestead. He is keen to expand the business by dyeing and shipping the wool himself as opposed to just selling the wool to the merchants in town. Faris is still an 18 year old lad and sometimes the thriving farm seems about as far from Peaksdell town and its cosmopolitan wonders as can be! His hobby is brewing his own cider and beer and he has some half formed ideas about adding this as a side project in the farm business. He likes reading, leatherworking and hunting with a bow and arrow. Kelisa: wants to work as an investigator like Lem and Filia. Kelisa likes walking, reading, cooking, brewing and eating. The family is very close-knit after surviving the Plague Coven abductions five years ago, feeling they have been given a second chance to take the opportunities before them; they are happy for each other to pursue the ambitions they have.

Thanks for another enjoyable session Mike. Loving the chance for a bit of old fashioned dungeon crawling and a bit of morally unambiguous heroics My punning brain was on overdrive for some reason last night - feel free to apply hit point penalties to Freya if the puns get out of hand.... From a party point of view, what resources do we currently have to help recover from stat damage and negative levels? I think we are in the level range where such things are commonplace and we might want to think about this a bit as a party?
