This is NOT a wargames show, let's nip that in the bud!! The Idea is an open day, invite some clubs and a few of the traders we are friends with, like Carl at WW or Colin at Gamers. Obviously if there is a show on at the same time, either WE will want to be at the show, or one of the traders will be. We could just have a big weekend meet, but I don't think that marks the occasion with the gusto it deserves. And we don't know of costs as yet, £300 is a guess,But my opinion is this is money well spent, for a good day for the members, and good advertising for the club. Dave

I suspect I am in the minority, and perhaps even a minority of one, but I think £300 would be a ridiculous amount of money for the club to spend on an "open day".

Terry speaks sense of course. Im happy with a good weekend of gaming with our people and invited guests, but i cant agree with involving traders because i cant see the return for them. But we must ask the NE Club first

I have asked the NE club of the feasability of this plan. they are not keen to have the whole lounge given over to the event, as their members have the right to use the facilities. However," don't completely rule out some arangement, possably using half the room" I was told. So the project is still a possability. As for the traders, the format of the day will be made known to them, and of course, no charge will be made. If they come I think it would be fun, but they will know not to expect many sales, hence our local traders so travel csts are a minimum. Dave

Hi Dave; I assume that if we did look at this option we would need to pay to have the bar open for the day so that we could use the down stairs room for the day? Did they give you any idea if they would prefer the Sat or the Sun?
What do you think about hiring the usual room for two days; it would give our members the option to plan something a little different; and offer either day to any visitors. We may be able to interest some of the other local clubs into a joint game or two.
Did you talk about costs?

if part of the idea is player recruitment then laying down a challenge to other local clubs could work quite well, gets them over here to play then we can wow them, would probably mean that we need to have quite a few systems going to catch as much interest as possible

Terry,No costs or caveat's were mentioned however the thought of hiring upstairs for 2 days concurrently had occured to me too! Si, the thought of other clubs bein challenged is a good idea. We could involve the GCN in this and yes multi systems is good. Diversity is what we do anyhow! But I also envisaged demo games from our neighbour clubs. However we are only in a little club, not a sports hall! so we will have to cherry pick the best ideas. Dave
