I am sure the current league will be finished by spring and some of us may be having withdrawal symptoms from warhammer. I am therefore staring planning on a large multiplayer game.
The scenario is "Death of Magic - Rise of the Machines" A mad noble of the empire has been working secretly with the Dwarves developing new machines of war. This has been going on secretly for years. Recently however these lands were raided by a Dark Elf Ark - all was going well until they were confronted by an Empire force with some dwarf engineers. A dark elf massacre was almost total but a hag and some witch elves survived the battle and although hunted down for nearly a week escaped back to their ark.
On their return to Naggaroth the Hag claims their loss was due to the winds of magic failing and new unstoppable war machines. Her mind failing the hag pleaded that the dark elves must make peace with the high elves and destroy this nightmare alliance before magic dies and all the old races face death and being overrun by humans. The hag was executed for treason and heresy making such mad claims and suggestions, but a new expeditionary force is being put together, and the high elf spy at the dark elf court has returned home with the story - which is spreading as wild rumour by various ambassadors to the high elf court.
So do you want to be Dwarf or Empire player and learn the truth, or do you want to lead a force to destroy these machines, or at least their myth?

Sign me up for the Empire; a good excuse to add a few more figures and guns to my small army, but I think another tank may be a step to far.

I will happily dedicate my Dwarven Throng to protecting our new mechanism of war (or some such).

What's this? A machine that dampens the Winds of Magic?
Such madness cannot be permitted. Such evil cannot go unanswered.
The armies of Ulthan shall march out to destroy this foul abomination.

A titanic struggle between two heroic elven armies referred to as 'girl v girl'!!! The Children of Ulthuan will march out to spank the upstart! Put me down for High Elves, maybe with a few mercenaries.

A titanic struggle between two heroic elven armies Er - Where'd this Elven civil war come from??? I thought this was about wreaking some foul anti-magic abomination dreamed up by the stunties. Hell, we're even considering teaming up with the Dark Elves on this Holy Quest - well not actually shooting at them (much), which counts as the same thing

Guys - to clarify one point. The empire and dwarves are tampering with the current universal model but it does not have to be just drak elves/elves taking them on. Word of their schemes has leaked out through the dark elves and elves but all races can go to try and fix things. Although I would suggest that Chaos may just cause a bit too much chaos, and the undead may have trouble staying well .......... together.
Mr Welsh - this scenario is just like WW2 and could well involve artillery, machine guns, tanks, ground attack aircraft, snipers, mining and errrrr flagellents, warrior priests, witches, nymphs, dryads, giants, spiders. Well I am sure the germans would have used them as well eventually!

Hi Steve
This thread seems to have gone a bit quite lately - pity 'cos it sounds like fun
Two (vitally important) questions: Are you going to run this? And, if so, when?
If you are, you can definately count me in
Mike

I asked Steve about this yesterday. He's aiming for the April all-day Sunday. As the usual Sunday would be Easter Sunday there's every chance it will be moved to the third Sunday, but Dave/Pete have yet to discuss this with the North End Club.
I'm daubing away at my Dark Elves in eager anticipation, although I suppose I could use my Dwarves if there's too many Elves.

Great - April sounds good to me
My elves are just itching to destroy whatever heretical anti-magic abomination the stumpies have dreamed up
Also, my ogres are just itching for a really good scrap - and they don't really care which side they're on (they'll fight for anybody as long as they're allowed to eat all the casualties)

I've got a couple of friends who aren't in the club but are interested in taking part in a big game if we run one. Is this something you'd be ok with?
Perhaps we should start trying to pin down who will be fielding what, I am currently planning on fielding 3k of Dwarves but I don't want to spend time painting up new stuff for them if we're short of players for the other side already.

Mike told me last night that this game was going to be delayed to June, is this the case?
