Just catching up with the 5th ed 40k rules tonight and noticed an interesting sentence in the line of sight rules which as Di pointed out has unforeseen possibilities:
"Of course your models are made of plastic or metal, so they can't tell you what they can see..."
Two things spring to mind:
1) really? they can't? darn it! 2) does that mean if they were made of something else they could? Jam? Cheese? Concrete?
I must get experimenting!

They need to be made of a more flexible material. It's not that they can't see what's going on, it's just that their mouths are too rigid for them to be able to speak. A more squishy substance would allow full use of the jaw and vocal chords.
So, in conclusion: Yes, they should be made out of Jam.

I think they're all wrong lads! Of course my troops are communicating everything back to their Supreme Commander (me), not my fault that the people writing the game have faulty headsets... . Besides, they're not really made out of metal and plastics, it's a clever disguise. In fact, they're very tiny people (don't even think midgets, not PC) with very tiny weapons wreaking a very small scale war on our world. But you know what they say about the drop carving out the rock? It's not it's strength but it's consistency that makes the rock crumble beneath it, and so will we... eventually. ;D

In fact, they're very tiny people Ah! That would explain why they don't seem to like me painting them!

In fact, they're very tiny people Ah! That would explain why they don't seem to like me painting them! Now there's a lame excuse if ever I heard one You're a hell of a lot bigger than them - all you have to do is insist There really isn't much they can do to stop you
