Hello,
Sorry if I've posted in the wrong section, but I wasn't sure where newbies should introduce themselves.
I was wondering if you are taking on new members in the New Year?
It has been many moons since I last sat round a table playing AD&D, or similar, and since then I've been confined to playing occasional on-line wargames.
I don't have a model army etc and I wasn't sure if that was a requirement to join, or play games?
Could you let me know if you are taking on new members, and if so, what knowledge/experience is expected, or required?
Thanks.
Paul

Hello Paul, and welcome
Do come along whenever you're free, we always like to welcome new members.
You won't need figures of your own, at least not yet anyway. One of the advantages of a club like ours is that you get to play with other peoples' toys until you have some of your own.
As for activities, we play several wargames (fantasy, historical, science fiction) as well as RPGs and, when there's nothing else going, even the occasional board game, so I'm sure you'll find something to interest you.
Hope to see you in the New Year.
Mike

Hi paul, yes, welcome! as Mike says we take all players of whatever ability. The club has lots of terrain and play aids permanently on site , If you are an RPG player we have dry wipe hex boards and even 3d dungeon terrain. You will find we are a friendly and accommodating bunch so you will be spoilt for choice of game, and yes most members have no problem for you to play with thier toys! Membership is very cheap, as our policy is to attract members, not make lots of money. Your first visit is free,so you get the chance to see if you like the club (and why wouldn't you) then membership is £6 per annum (waged) and £3 concessions, this is paid on a pro rata basis, so if you come in part way into the year, you only pay a proportion of the fee. Then weekly subs are £2 waged and 50p concessions. The club also has plenty of activities outside the club night, we regularly attend the main gaming shows, puting on demo games, or organise trips to places like the Tank Museum at Bovingdon. This Friday we are having our annual Xmas Curry, as you will read in the posts, you are welcome to come along and meet the lads if you wish. We are also a GCN member club, so have contacts with other local clubs in the area, and have inter club matches and so on. it is all good fun, and we hope to see you soon. Dave Wilkin, Club Secretary

Thanks very much everyone, been very helpful and welcoming.
Dave - thanks very much for the invite to your curry night, and as I love curry, very tempted, but as no-one knows me I'd feel that I was gatecrashing, and no doubt my wife would not be best pleased! ;-)

No come along to the curry old chap! Its the highlight of our year!
The club is an amusing mix of periods and passions - there is always something for you to join in, and as has already been said, you dont need to know anything about the period or game to join in.
We meet at the North End Club which is at the far end of Tavistock Street and we start at 7pm on Mondays and it goes on till 11pm. We hope to see you at the club soon!

Happy New Year!
I'm hoping to come along on Monday 11th. Is there carparking at the club, or some nearby? I live in Bedford, but have always just zipped past that area on way into town.

There is a carpark at club and if no space available you can normally find a space on the road behind the club. We meet on the first floor and normally access the room via the fire escape which comes down into the car park.

Hi Paul
Good to hear from you again
As Terry says, there is a car park at the rear -- access is via Chandos St, which comes off of Tavistock St a few yards down from the Roff Av roundabout
Look forward to seeing you on Monday
Mike
