I attended the 40k Doubles Tournament at the weekend and achieved a rather lowly 76th. With 2 wins and 4 losses.
Thoroughly enjoyable 1st saw 1 loss (v close loss) and 2 wins. Unfortunately this bumped us up to table 12 for our first game for day 2 which saw us face some true tournie players. Subsequently we lost all our games on Sunday.
Good weekend though but I would say to those thinking of attending next that the armies I saw kicking around were very much geared towards tournament play rather than well balanced or dare I say it "fun".

That's pretty normal really, even for the doubles tournaments, which are more relaxed than the GT's.
This year is the first time I haven't been to the 40K doubles in probably 5 or 6 years.
Half the fun of these things is trying to come up a really good combo of armies, that'll work against the other strange variations you'll see.
