Had a re-think on my scenery plans. A guy at work suggested to build my own, and I've got a few templates for buildings and how to do it. The question is: where the heck do I buy sheets of balsa wood in Bedford Most so-called hobbyshops seems to cater for the boats/ cars/ planes and trains crowd. Please advise. Ove.

Simple answer, Goldings, top of the High Street. Next(ish) to Barclays Bank.

Ove - they are closed on Thursday afternoons.
Half-day closing is such an old quaint English custom, I wouldn't want you getting caught out ;D

Thanks for the heads-up Mark. Checked out their opening times, Thursday would've been excellent for me, but alas. I guess I'll go Tuesday instead.

As others have mentioned Goldings do still stock a good range of Balsa in many shapes and sizes. As an alternative have you considered foam board, the art shop in Bedford usually has large sheets in a variety of thicknesses. If you don't know it the Art shop is behind the high street beneath the multi storey carpark.

Thanks for your input Terry. Will check that out as well (someday). Have only gotten the idea to try to build some old west buildings, but not really considered the material. The book I've got does it with balsa, but I might consider foam. Have to have a little think.
